Meet Mirlina Jean Mary

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mirlina Jean Mary. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Mirlina , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

I get my resilience from my roots. Being born in Haiti, I witnessed firsthand what true perseverance looks like. My mother worked tirelessly, juggling two jobs, sacrificing sleep, comfort, and even her own dreams to give us a better life. She showed me that resilience isn’t just about pushing through tough times—it’s about refusing to let those tough times define you.

Resilience, for me, is knowing that I’m not just fighting for myself. I carry the weight of my family, my culture, and the generations that came before me. Every time I feel like giving up, I remind myself that quitting doesn’t just affect me—it ripples through my entire bloodline. I am my ancestors’ wildest dreams, and if I stop, I close doors for those who come after me.

So, I keep going—not just for me, but for my mother’s sacrifices, for my family’s future, and for the legacy I want to leave behind. Because resilience isn’t just surviving—it’s thriving despite the odds.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Right now, my focus is on expanding **La Lune Beauty Supply**, not just by opening new locations, but by turning it into a movement that inspires and empowers others. I know firsthand how hard it is to start a business, especially when you don’t have the right guidance or resources. That’s why I’m stepping into mentorship—helping others who dream of owning a beauty supply store but don’t know where to start, or even those who want to start a business in general and need help with structure, strategy, and execution.

I want to be the person who **inspires, empowers, and educates** others to become whatever they are trying to become.

In addition to growing my business and mentoring others, I’m also excited to announce that I’m launching a **podcast**! So many people have been asking for it, and I can’t wait to create a platform where we can have real, raw, and impactful conversations about business, resilience, and success.

To sum it up, I am developing it into something even greater—a brand, a movement, and a source of empowerment for those chasing their dreams. Stay tuned! 🚀✨

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, three key qualities have been the most impactful in my journey:

**1. Growing at My Own Pace & Staying Focused**
I learned early on that comparison is the thief of progress. Instead of worrying about what others were doing, I stayed in my lane and focused on my own growth. Success isn’t a race—it’s a journey, and the only competition is becoming a better version of yourself every day.

**2. Investing in Growth Through Seminars & Conferences**
Whether it was a business seminar, an industry conference, or a spiritual retreat, I made it a priority to immerse myself in environments that nurtured my growth. Each event gave me new knowledge, connections, and perspectives that helped me level up, both professionally and personally.

3. Unshakable Self-Confidence**
I am my first cheerleader. I believe in myself so deeply that no one can take that away from me. Confidence is what kept me pushing forward, even when doubt tried to creep in. If you don’t believe in yourself, how can you expect anyone else to?

My Advice for Those just Starting Out
– Research your field – The more knowledgeable you are, the more prepared you’ll be for opportunities and challenges.
– Stay in your lane– Move at your own pace and don’t get distracted by what others are doing. Your journey is yours.
– Invest in yourself – Attend conferences, read books, find mentors—never stop learning.

The key to success isn’t just hard work, but intentional growth, self-trust, and perseverance**.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed, I’ve learned that it’s okay to pause, step back, and recharge. Taking a day or two to reset isn’t a sign of weakness—it’s a necessary part of growth and sustainability. When you constantly pour from an empty cup, you’re not giving your best to yourself or anyone else.

My strategy?**
– Take intentional breaks – Whether it’s a self-care day, a quiet moment to reflect, or just unplugging from everything, stepping away helps me come back stronger.
– Listen to my body & mind – If I’m feeling drained, I allow myself to rest instead of pushing through exhaustion.
– Refocus & realign– After recharging, I come back with a fresh perspective, better ideas, and the energy to keep going.

My advice? Give yourself permission to rest. A short break can make a world of difference in your clarity, productivity, and overall well-being. **You function better when you are full, not when you’re running on empty.

That’s such a powerful belief! If God is the author of your life, then everything that happens is part of His greater plan. Worrying only takes away from the trust we’re meant to have in His guidance. When we know that He’s in control, there’s no need to carry the burden of fear or anxiety. Instead, we can lean into faith, knowing that every challenge, every setback, and every triumph is part of a story being written with purpose.

Matthew 6:34 reminds us: Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

It’s a constant reminder to live in the moment, trust the process, and know that we are being led by the ultimate Author.
