Meet Misa Bacon

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Misa Bacon a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Misa, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

Life’s challenges have taught me the true meaning of resilience. Growing up, I often found myself navigating new situations and solving problems independently. This sense of self-reliance deepened as I became a single mother. Knowing that my daughter depends on me for everything fuels my determination and resourcefulness. At the end of the day, there’s no room for giving up when you’re responsible for another human being’s well-being. It’s a powerful motivator that pushes me to find solutions, overcome obstacles, and constantly seek ways to improve our lives. Motherhood has taught me that resilience isn’t just about bouncing back, but about continuously adapting and finding strength in the face of adversity.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My passion lies in empowering women entrepreneurs to take control of their financial destiny. With Perfectly Kept Books, I’m not just balancing books, I’m building confidence. I believe that when women understand their numbers, they unlock a whole new level of business savvy. That’s why I’m particularly excited about my new bookkeeping membership. It’s designed as an affordable and accessible solution for women who are handling their own finances, providing a supportive space to learn, grow, and connect with other like-minded entrepreneurs. Together, we’re breaking down the barriers that often stand between women and financial clarity, so they can focus on what truly matters – turning their business dreams into reality.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

In my journey with Perfectly Kept Books, I’ve found that three qualities have been truly impactful. First, a genuine love for numbers and problem-solving is essential. It’s what fuels my curiosity and drives me to stay on top of the latest industry trends. Second, strong communication and empathy are crucial. To be a successful bookkeeper, you need to be able to explain complex financial concepts in simple terms, build trust with clients, and understand their unique financial needs. Lastly, a commitment to continuous learning is a must. The world of finance is constantly evolving, so staying updated on new regulations, technologies, and best practices is crucial. I’m always looking for opportunities to expand my knowledge and skills through courses, workshops, and networking with other professionals. My advice for those starting out is to embrace their passion, hone their communication skills, and never stop learning. Find a mentor who can offer guidance and support, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. The most successful entrepreneurs are the ones who are constantly seeking out new knowledge and applying it to their businesses.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

My ideal clients are ambitious and forward-thinking women entrepreneurs who value financial clarity as a cornerstone of their business success. They recognize that understanding their numbers is not just about compliance, but a strategic advantage. They’re eager to learn and understand their financial data, viewing it as a tool to make informed decisions that drive growth and profitability. These women are proactive and engaged, actively seeking out solutions and resources to enhance their financial literacy. They appreciate collaboration and value open communication, trusting me as their financial partner. While they may be at different stages in their entrepreneurial journey, they share a common desire to gain financial confidence and leverage it to propel their businesses forward. Whether they’re just starting out or looking to scale, my ideal clients are committed to building sustainable and thriving businesses, and they recognize the vital role that sound financial management plays in achieving their goals.
