We were lucky to catch up with Misha Guseynov recently and have shared our conversation below.
Misha, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
It’s a work and progress and I am still experiencing it at times. I realized that the only true way to overcome this feeling is by doing the best you can.
I often view work of other photographers & videographers whom I consider better than me. I’ve learned instead of thinking that my work may not be good to learn how these professionals achieve the quality of work they present.
The truth is perfect is in imperfection and between not doing something because I am afraid I want to do it perfectly and doing something imperfectly, I will pick the second option. By doing something, I will naturally become better than most.
If you are experiencing the imposter syndrome, just ignore it and do the best you can.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I graduated FAU with a Bachelor’s Degree in 2016 and with MBA in 2018. I started working on my second Master’s Degree but dropped out to concentrate on supporting mom’s photo & video business. Since the start of the business in 2021, we have served over a thousand clients and are one of the top photo/video companies in South Florida with over 700 5-star reviews.
We are a professional photography and videography company based in South Florida, offering a range of high-quality services to capture your most special moments. From weddings and events to portraits and commercial projects, we use our expertise to create stunning visuals that showcase your unique personality and style. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for storytelling, we work closely with our clients to understand their vision and bring it to life.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1) Sales – Learn how to sell value instead of being “salesy” and you will grow your business;
2) Customer service – Make sure to be with your clients every step of the way to make sure they are happy with their experience;
3) Communication – Communicate clearly and respond within 24 hours after an inquiry.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am always looking to collaborate with fellow wedding vendors and entrepreneurs in general. Whether you have a podcast or a blog, I’d be excited to connect with you to grow your online presence.
I am also open to other ways of collaboration, for example, joining wedding/event venues’ preferred vendor list.
