Meet Mishele Arciniega Lopez

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mishele Arciniega Lopez a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Mishele, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
Resilience, to me, is about pursuing my goals despite external challenges. I believe that destiny has a way of aligning opportunities with individuals, a notion that helps me interpret rejections as redirections rather than personal setbacks. Criticism and differing viewpoints are seen through the lens of individual perspective; understanding that others’ experiences don’t define my path empowers me to remain unaffected by them. My resilience comes from trusting my intuition and viewing life’s experiences as a guide towards my dreams.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Curiosity, faith, and humility have been crucial in my journey. I’ve found that staying curious opens doors to endless learning opportunities. Don’t hesitate to ask questions and always keep learning about subjects you like. The more you explore, the more you grow.

Having faith is crucial. Life doesn’t always happen as planned, and that’s okay. Maintaining a positive outlook and trusting that everything happens for a reason can provide much-needed perspective during challenges.

Humility is key. Recognize that there’s always more to learn and room to improve. Embrace the idea that everyone has something valuable to offer, and remain open to learning from others.

Remember, it’s not always about reaching the final destination; focus on taking each step forward. By approaching challenges with curiosity, faith, and humility, you’ll find that anything is possible.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
I am a very anxious person, so it is common for me to feel overwhelmed with any type of task. While I have not yet mastered this, I believe that focusing on just the next step is key. Anyone can become the best guitarist in the world if the first step is just buying a guitar. I try to view everything this way, just the step that is right in front of me is always very doable, and then the next and the next. Constant small steps can take you very far.
