Meet Missy Feldman

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Missy Feldman. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Missy below.

Missy, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
When you are a little kid, your teachers and parents always ask, “what do you want to be when you grow up?” and my answer as a kid was to be a cleaning lady, or a veterinarian. As an adult, I look back and can understand why I picked those two things – because my love for animals, and I’m extremely OCD. Fast forward to high school and college, I studied film – thinking that would be my carrier path. However, after years of being on set, and working in the editing room, I was still not happy and always felt that something was missing. In 2018 I made my first vision board – and on that vision board I put the things that I love to do most, organizing being one of them! At the time, I had no idea that Professional Organizing was a “thing” until I started doing some research and realized that my hobby, what I LOVE to do everyday is actually a career! I then began to meet with other Organizers, and I started working as a sub contractor for a few years and then eventually created my own company- No Mess with Missy. I LOVE to help people declutter and organize their homes, building new relationships, and making a positive impact in peoples lives. I can’t imagine doing anything else with my life. This is my passion. This is my purpose.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Life today can be overwhelming and stressful. We experience stress on a daily basis from our jobs, our relationships, our kids, traffic, and the list goes on. The primary place to recharge is at home. A cluttered home creates a constant stress, that only intensifies over time, making it impossible to relax. Organizing a cluttered home can be overwhelming, most people do not even know where to begin.

This is where my experience, training, and expertise come in! I am extremely passionate, I take the time to observe and listen to my clients, review the various products available that fit their needs and are within their budget; ensuring the system that is created works for them. Ultimately, transforming their space, guiding them to achieve healthier habits and living in a sustainable, stress free environment.

Not only do I have the skills and experience, I am also a proud member of NAPO (National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals) as well as NAPO Arizona, where I serve on the board as Newsletter Chair.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back at my previous career, I worked at The Apple Store for a few years, I started as a a Specialist and as I grew with the company, I taught creative workshops, and eventually became the In Store Trainer for all new hires. Working in retail, I had to learn how to deal with all kinds of people, really be an active listener; understand peoples needs, and identify solutions when a customer had an issue. These skills are what helped me grow my business today. As a Professional Organizer, it’s important to have patience, great communication skills, earn trust, and identify long term solutions that work for my clients.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
My biggest area of growth & improvement is expanding my business. When I first started, the majority of my jobs consisted of decluttering and organizing. But in the past 12 months I put more focus on marketing additional services that my business offers, including: unpacking, staging homes, and maintenance. I hired a team of amazing organizers which has allowed me to focus on networking, building relationships, and partnering with other companies-ultimately increasing my cliental!
