We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Missy Phipps. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Missy below.
Hi Missy, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
I have always been a cup half full personality. In today’s negative and hard to understand world, I feel it is a true gift to be able to try and see the good in most situations. Growing up in a less than stable home may be one reason I try to see the the good. I always believed the people in my life that were making bad choices were good people, they just couldn’t because of their addiction. I just kept believing that they could change and that one day they would. That is what allowed me to endure the situations that I was faced with. And it’s what allows me to try and see the positive in all things, to dream big. Because eventually those people did change for the positive, so it allows me to believe that anything and anyone can change.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My heart and soul is focused on Ally’s Wish. With a waitlist of over 200 moms, my day to day activities involves finding sponsors/partners to bring on board to help us get wishes granted. We just finished our 6th Annual 5K and raised around $30,ooo. And we have our 10th Anniversary Gala April 27th entitle Ally’s Wish Boots and Blessings “Birthday Ball”. We are so excited to celebrate 10 years of granting wishes.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I believe that all that I am came from the fact that my childhood was challenging. Some would play victim, but instead, I have chosen to let it drive me to be as successful as I can be. My past helped me grow in compassion but also to know how to fight for what I want. As rough as my past was, I wouldn’t change it, it’s made me who I am.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Ally’s Wish is in real need of partners in many areas. We need monetary sponsors, as well as partners willing to donate through hotels stays, VRBO rentals, airline tickets, and physical donations for our live and silent auctions that we have at our Gala. We are also in the process of acquiring grants and other on going funding.
