Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Misty Marcum. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Misty, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I’ve found my purpose by following what makes me feel most alive — being on the water, connecting with people, and creating space for others to do the same. Purpose, to me, is where passion meets service. It’s not something you “find” once; it’s something you grow into by paying attention to what fills your heart and how it ripples outward.
With Luna Moon, that purpose has evolved into community. It’s about inspiring others to connect — with nature, with themselves, and with each other — through paddleboarding, yoga, and shared experiences. My goal is to create a space that feels welcoming and uplifting, where everyone can explore at their own pace and leave feeling more grounded and alive.
Purpose isn’t just about what I do; it’s about what we build together on the water and beyond.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m the founder of Luna Moon SUP, a community built around connection — to the water, to nature, and to each other. I lead stand-up paddleboard and SUP yoga experiences that go beyond just getting on a board; they’re about finding peace, confidence, and joy through mindful movement and time outdoors.
What makes Luna Moon special is the sense of belonging that forms on the water. Every paddle, class, and retreat is designed to remind people that they’re capable, supported, and part of something bigger. Whether someone is stepping onto a board for the first time or joining one of our signature retreats, the goal is always the same: to connect, explore, and experience.
This year we’re especially excited about our retreat offerings — from a serene summer getaway in Big Bay, Michigan starting July 23–26, 2026 to a Florida Manatee Retreat in March 6-8 2026 that blends adventure with rest and reflection. Each retreat brings together a community of like-minded paddlers and dreamers who want to slow down, soak up nature, and reconnect with themselves.
Beyond retreats, Luna Moon continues to grow through our SUP trainings, workshops, and expanding product line — from natural lip balms and lotion bars to new apparel and merch that celebrate life on the water. Every piece of Luna Moon, whether it’s an experience or a product, carries that same intention: to live with connection and presence, one paddle at a time.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, three qualities have made the biggest impact on my path: resilience, creativity, and connection.
Resilience taught me to keep going — through uncertainty, weather changes, business pivots, and the seasons of self-doubt that come with running something from the heart. The water is a great teacher of that. It reminds you to adapt, find balance, and trust that calm always returns after the waves.
Creativity helped me see possibilities instead of limits. Whether designing a retreat experience, creating natural products, or dreaming up a new class, creativity keeps things fresh and authentic. It’s what allows Luna Moon to evolve while staying true to its roots.
And connection — that’s everything. Building relationships, listening to community feedback, and creating experiences that bring people together is what keeps me grounded and inspired.
For anyone just starting their journey, I’d say:
Resilience grows from showing up — even when you don’t feel ready.
Creativity expands when you give yourself permission to play and not have all the answers.
Connection deepens when you lead with authenticity and care.
Your path doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. Stay curious, stay kind to yourself, and trust that every small step is shaping something meaningful.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Absolutely — collaboration is at the heart of Luna Moon. I’m always looking to partner with people and brands who share the same values of connection, wellness, nature, and community. Whether it’s co-creating a retreat experience, teaming up for eco-friendly or water-inspired products, or hosting a joint event that encourages people to get outside and move mindfully, I love finding ways to grow together.
I especially enjoy collaborating with local makers, outdoor and wellness brands, content creators, and retreat leaders who want to bring more meaning and creativity into their work. There’s so much power in combining passions — it’s how new ideas and lasting memories are made.
