Misty, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
For as long as I can remember I have always strived for greatness, knowing I wanted to make something great out of my life. I grew up in a family where both of my parents were entrepreneurs. Having the most influential people in my life discover great success through entrepreneurship lit a fire within me to find my own great success! With this undeniable urge to become great, I step stepping stones to grow and build my life. Attending university, seminars, learning from the best in the Wedding Planning field; moving from one learning experience to the next while keeping my eye set on the goal and feeling within my life I wanted to achieve. I dreamed of building a women based empire allowing myself to have time within my personal life to enjoy the wonders of the world with my loved ones while working from wherever or heck having my trusted team run the empire while I am away exploring uncharted territories.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three most important skills or qualities going into Wedding Planning I would say are communication, resourcefulness and problem solving. Personal connection and communication is the building block that all Blissful Moment Events is build on. We want our clients to feel as if we are their best friend, we will be their go to girl, shoulder to cry on and expert in the field. Resourcefulness, we must be able to take an idea and bring it to life whether that be finding the perfect vendors, contractors to build pieces, or scrap an idea completely and use our recourses to bring the vision to life but maybe in a non-traditional way. Lastly problem solving, this is a huge one day-of-event. While our team goes into every wedding and event well prepared there is never going to be a point in time where something doesn’t arise. I always joke with our clients that we are their firewomen – there to put out the flames before the flames are seen by anyone other than our teams eyes. Overall being a wedding planner requires the up-most detail oriented planning to start off and then quick thinking and resourcefulness throughout the entirety of the wedding/event.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
Books are a very important part of my daily life. I always start my day off with an early morning reading out of a personal development book and then end my day diving deep into the world of fiction novel. The book that jump started my business success (along with my family and boyfriend’s encouragement of course) was the book “You are a Badass – How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life” by Jen Sincero. This book truly lit a fire that could not be tamed. I had always dreamt of stating my own wedding planning business but I needed to stop dreaming and take charge and just START and the words of encouragement in this book did just that for me! “Nobody who ever accomplished anything big or new or worth raising a celebratory fist in the air did it form their comfort zone. They risked ridicule and failure and sometimes even death.” I had to step out of my comfort zone to start on a journey of greatness “and the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom”. – Jen Sincero I knew that taking this leap would be scary and filled with so many learning experiences but damn was I empowered to go forth and create something great! Failure was NOT an option, I was going to put my heart and soul into Blissful Moment Events and watch it blossom into something truly beautiful!
