Meet Mm Selembo

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mm Selembo a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi MM, so great to have you on the platform. There’s so much we want to ask you, but let’s start with the topic of self-care. Do you do anything for self-care and if so, do you think it’s had a meaningful impact on your effectiveness?

Over the past few years, I went back to school to finish my graphic design degree, which helped me gain new hard skills. I also developed a daily routine that includes doing something active, eating healthy meals and getting outside in my spare time.

To “shake things up”, I disconnect in my spare time with backpacking trips. By balancing consistency with adventure, I’m able to be more present, positive and effective in my professional and personal life.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m a Graphic Designer, Artist and Executive Assistant. My line of work is exciting because every project is new and different. I love interacting with different types of people and exploring how contrast and unity shape visual perception and human interaction.

Recently, I’ve starting taking on more freelance design work and designed my first baby shower invitation. I also launched my printify shop with some of my digital artwork available to buy on shirts, candles and other fun items.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Three skills I’ve worked on that have been impactful in my journey so far are consistency, being present and making more attempts to connect with others or say yes to new things. Creating consistency is about keeping promises even when you don’t feel like keeping them because you can see the bigger picture. For example, being consistently active and present improves my creativity and motivation.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I’d like to solve problems with organizations and executives that want to empower people and our planet. I’ve particularly enjoyed the work I’ve done with health-minded, woman-owned businesses and would like to collaborate with more outdoor, environmental, and health and wellness brands.
