Meet Molly Flynn

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Molly Flynn a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Molly , so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

Imposter syndrome is real and raw thats for sure. There have been numerous occasions when I felt I didnt belong in the industry, or shouldnt speak up. But I quickly learned and continuously remind myself that there is only one Me, and no one else can take that. Overcoming imposter syndrome involves a combination of self aware-ness and ultimately, a mindset shift. Its ok to acknowledge your feelings, because anytime you step out of your comfort zone, it can be scary, but it is all about reframing your mindset. I always want to focus on my own personal growth, because I DID THAT and to really celebrate all the little wins. This I think has really helped me build the confidence, ignore the self doubt and always strive to be better for my clients, because they are the ones who matter in the long run.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

First and foremost, I am a mom to a 7 month old and 3 dogs and my husband serves in the Navy, which is what brought us to Pensacola, FL. I love exploring all avenues of wellness! I truly believe that we need to give back to ourselves to recharge to be able to help others. For hobbies- I love getting the endorphins flowing with daily fitness and enjoy various activities that bring me outside to enjoy the beautiful weather.
I have been in the Resort Spa & Wellness Industry since 2020 leading in Spa Management. My passion was about curating the most fulfilled, memorable experience for the guests. It was always a dream to be one on one with the clients delivering the same sacred, relaxing environment I trained my team to provide.

I decided to go solo and start my own Esthetics Skincare studio. In typical fashion, I found out I was pregnant day before I was signing the lease and decided to go with it anyways. It was scary but I knew I was the only one who could control my fate/ success and would do what needed to be done to make it work- literally because it had to.

As the Owner of Skin By Flynn in Pensacola, FL – I specialize in Buccal and Facial Sculpting, and treating Acne from a holistic approach. My business practice is about blending results with relaxation. I know everyones time is precious so I strive to make it a moment of self care and relaxation for them, while I do all of the work-whether that be lymphatic drainage, customized facials, progressive anti-aging treatments, etc. I provide an enviornment for my clients to fully relax all while making our time together also be effective. The studio was created with the passion of combining proven, and effective treatments along with aesthetics and luxury.

The treatments of Skin By Flynn are centered around aging gracefully by natural lifting, lymphatic drainage and finding the best version of our skin. I take great pride in helping others achieve great goals for their skin, lifestyle guidance and assisting clients on their specific skin care needs.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I feel that professionalism, empathy, and just being myself were my cornerstones in my journey of starting my own business. Professionalism gave me the foundation to build trust and credibility with my clients and ability to consistently deliver high quality services that demonstrated my commitment to my craft.
Empathy allows me to connect with my clients on a deeper level and truly understand where they are coming from in terms of their selfcare needs and concerns. I have been in their shoes and want to do everything I can to build their confidence from within. Lastly, just being myself is probably the most impactful. By staying true to my self, I attract the clients who resonate with my values and approach to skincare. I want my brand to be relatable, trusting and building a genuine connection. I love that my clients look forward to our time together. Its really the blend of professionalism, empathy, and authenticity that has not only fueled my growth but has made my journey deeply fulfilling.

Advice I would give someone who is early in their journey, would be to understand your audience. Know who you are helping and why, and really believing in that, and if you dont, then find the niche that drives your passion. This is how you build strong relationships, and clients that will follow you until the end of time. When early in your journey, it is easy to compare yourself to others, but patience is key, be confident and the right clients will find you. Also and always- INVEST IN YOUR EDUCATION. When you invest in your continued education, you are not only setting your business apart from the competition, but you are investing in yourself. It adds value to the services you offer and confidence building is an evolving field.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

When I start to feel overwhelmed, I start cleaning and try to distract my brain for a second lol.

But when I know I have alot to accomplish and am trying to balance it all, I take a moment to prioritize what needs to be done first and just chip away. I love to make lists and feel that I am able to get it all out of my head all that needs to be done and then realize its not as much as I thought.
Whats most important to realize is that, the work will get done. I learned that it does no good to stress over something that hasnt happened yet, because then youll just end up stressing over it twice. It really is ok to feel overwhelmed at times. Instead of being hard on yourself, practice self compassion, take meditative breaks with deep breathing and simply acknowledge that you are doing your absolute best. The work and tasks will always be there, but that is a great thing because that means we are living and thriving!
