Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Monica Garcia. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Monica , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from wanting a better future for me and my son Jason. Sure life is hard but life is also filled with opportunities. Instead of focusing on the negative I try to focus on the positive while planning and working on a better outcome from whatever situation I am in.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am from a Hastings, Nebraska. A small town right in the center of the USA. My community has always been very welcoming. But I’ve always had bigger dreams.
As most of you guys know I’ve been in the beauty industry for 9 years. I’ve seen myself fail, cry, flourish and grow as a person and as a business owner. As I get older I realize that I’m leaning for a slower pace work rhythm as the adventurous entrepreneurship rhythm of always being on the go is starting to get a little too crazy.
With that being said. I have decided to return back to school in the Fall of 2026 to complete a BSN degree in order eventually open a medical aesthetics business where I would be focusing on medical aesthetic facials, Botox. and fillers.
Changing my fast pace a little and exchanging it to something more settled.
It’s been a tough decision as eventually I would have to close down my business to get by those last years of school but it’s a small sacrifice for a better and bigger outcome. I’ve put my faith in God and have prayed for this. Im feel at peace and optimistic about this decision.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Don’t stress! Being a business owner you live under so much stress. It doesn’t matter what you do or what you sell. Shoot! You could be selling rocks but if you are the business owner of that rock store you will be stressed! Small business owners carry a lot on their shoulders it’s not as easy as it seems. There is so much effort and emotion that goes on behind the scenes.
Patience! Being patient is a skill I had to develop in order to have a peace of mind!
Well, blocking out the haters! It sounds so dumb but it’s true! Especially coming from a very small town. People talk and the word travels fast. You will be talked about, you will be judged, people will watch you and act like they don’t even know you. Lol, But I’ve always told myself. Im not here to be every strangers best friend. Im here to focus on myself and my family while achieving the goals that have set out for myself. I strive to deliver quality and a personalized experience in my services and the right people will gravitate. I do that and God always seems to take care of the rest,
Im so blessed.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
My husband. I owe that man so much! Erik and I have been married 9 years and not once has he ever been dismissive of any of my dreams or ambitions. He has always let me reach for the stars and go through life to the beat of my own drum. He’s always helping me out at the salon. Hes our handyman with no pay. Lol, He’s always there for me every time I need to vent. I know he’s sick of me when it comes to hearing me vent to the 10th millionth time! Haha. He’s great, Im blessed to have such a strong and open minded husband. I adore him to pieces.
