Meet Monica M.

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Monica Mason.. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Monica, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I believe I get my resilience from my Mother who has since ascended. I watched her raise four kids by herself working a full time job at Sears Dept. Store. My Mother never backed down from a challenge and she always managed to keep a good roof over our heads.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’ve been a Licensed Massage Therapist for 7 years and I am passionate about natural healing, which led me to creating and starting a small business (Out Of Eden LLC) making my own skincare products using raw shea butter as a moisturizer, making aromatherapy roll-ons and soaps using essential oils and local harvested Texas wild flowers.  I love sharing and educating my customers and clients on the many different holistic healing modalities that work. I also enjoy being out in nature, beginning early Spring to harvest my own flowers and botanicals to use in my products. I love being a creator. It feels like I am sharing Mother Nature’s accomplishments. Now I am trying my hand at a little wholesale during the holidays.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Focus is not an easy thing, distractions come in many ways, you have to keep your mind on the end game/goal. I would read my plan before I went to bed almost every night

  1. Confidence was something I had to buildup if I wanted to build rapport and trust with my customers. Sometimes I would mimic and roleplay my favorite celebrities until it felt natural in me.
  2. Imagination is a gift & skill we all have and I use it to see and smell my shea butter blending and drying flower petals and mixing all the wonderful smells and colors to create simple, yet aromatic products.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When I am feeling overwhelmed by business matters, financial matters, family, kids, work, anything, I will go to my patio and sit and take deep breaths of air. I may say a personal mantra and just look up at the infinite sky. It helps to clear my head, be appreciative and quiet my thoughts. Then I may prioritize the easiest thing to handle first, then set a plan in motion.
