Meet Monica Marino

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Monica Marino a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Monica , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

I think my work ethic comes from a combination of nature and nurture. My love for music has always been a part of me. I remember singing as a little girl, and it’s been a constant source of joy and motivation. Throughout college, I juggled two majors while working part-time. Those experiences instilled a strong work ethic in me. I’ve always been a ‘hustler,’ and that’s what inspired me to write ‘Gotta Grind’. My parents also always emphasized the importance of hard work and dedication. But it’s also something I’ve always felt within myself. Music is my passion, and I’m willing to put in the effort to make my dreams a reality.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

As a singer-songwriter, my passion lies in using music as a tool to inspire, motivate, and uplift. I strive to create music that resonates with listeners, helping them find their inner peace and light. My goal is to inspire positive change and guide others towards their best selves.
I’m incredibly excited to announce the upcoming release of my first music video for the single “Gotta Grind” on November 11th. This project, made possible by the support of my dear friend and mentor, Kat Hall, embodies the message of perseverance, self-belief, and the power of hard work.
The song and video delve into the journey of self-discovery and the importance of staying committed to one’s dreams. I hope it inspires listeners to embrace their inner strength and strive for greatness.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, I believe the three most impactful qualities that have shaped my journey are:
1. Manifestation: The power of manifestation has been a game-changer for me. By setting clear intentions and visualizing my goals, I’ve been able to attract positive experiences and opportunities. To harness this power, start by setting specific and achievable goals. Visualize yourself achieving these goals and feel the emotions associated with them.
2. Self-Belief: Believing in oneself is essential for success in any endeavor. It’s about trusting your instincts, embracing your unique qualities, and staying positive, even in the face of challenges. To cultivate self-belief, practice positive affirmations, surround yourself with supportive people, and celebrate your achievements, no matter how small.
3. Diligence, and Undying Passion: I’ve always been willing to put in the extra effort, stay committed to my goals, and pursue my passion relentlessly. For those early in their journey, I advise embracing a strong work ethic, setting realistic goals, and staying persistent, even when faced with challenges.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for me was moving our family from Colombia to the United States. While it wasn’t an easy decision, it was one that has profoundly shaped my life.
Their sacrifice and determination to provide a better future for my siblings and me taught me the value of hard work, resilience, and perseverance. The challenges we faced, such as adapting to a new culture and overcoming financial hardships, have instilled in me a strong work ethic and a drive to succeed. I am forever grateful for their courage and love.
