Meet Monica Vega

We were lucky to catch up with Monica Vega recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Monica, so excited to have you with us today, particularly to get your insight on a topic that comes up constantly in the community – overcoming creativity blocks. Any thoughts you can share with us?

I always overcome creative blocks as an artist when I take a deep breath and step back from the situation I’m going through. My normal is working in my skill set of visual art and when I am not flowing in that area I know that I have a block. To push myself is going to be a lot more detrimental to my craft than to just step back and wait until my mind is ready.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I began my brand in 2017. I wasn’t as coordinated at first, but I learned how to make my craft and business experience work together. In the spring of 2024, I am launching an E-Book to on how I became an artist and sharing insight on the art industry, I’m most excited about sharing my life experiences with people who’ve had unfair challenges in their life. I have encountered many situations where people open up to me about what the career, they desired but couldn’t see themselves pursuing it because of fear. Art is more than being featured in galleries. Its more about who we make an impact on.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Some of the things that helped me on my journey of creating has been mentorship from people who have already achieved what I want to do. My tactics has always been to hone in on what your good at and continue to improve on it.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
My parents taught me a valuable lesson about thinking for myself and being an individual that make cautious decisions for my future.
