We were lucky to catch up with Monique Salas recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Monique, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My work ethic definitely comes from watching my mom work so hard. I’ve seen my mom work on her worst days. If she can pull through those days, I have no excuse when I have my days.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
The Oc Lash Fairy Academy is a space where like minded women come to connect & learn. I’m super excited to have officially launched our online course. Were now offering Lash Extension, Teeth Whitening & Lash Lift + Tint Online Courses. Students have an opportunity to learn in the comfort of their own home.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
3 qualities that really stand out to me are vision, because without vision you have nowhere to aim for, you have no direction. Having a vison is so important because it will keep you going on those days you feel lost or want to give up. Another quality that has impacted me was finding my passion. Finding a true passion makes the long days feel so easy and effortless. When you love what you do work does not feel like work, you have a sense of fulfillment that can’t be touched. Lastly you have to believe in yourself. Believing in your ability to get the job done is where it’s at. Only you know your work ethic, and when you put the belief in yourself nothing can stop you from getting what’s meant to be for you.
We’ve all got limited resources, time, energy, focus etc – so if you had to choose between going all in on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong, what would you choose?
I believe it’s good to understand our strengths and weaknesses however don’t let your weaknesses overcome you. Focus in on what you are great at and do that.
For my brand I enjoy creating content and showing face on social media and talking about real things that entrepreneurs face. Being authentic and showing up as myself has been able to connect me with so many students. The amount of dms I get for sharing real stories amazes me. The fact I can simply be myself is enough to get my audience engaged. So, find what you are good at. Yes, tap into other strengths that you have but keep developing what you are good at. It’s great to be well rounded overall, there’s always room for improvement.
