We were lucky to catch up with Montae Harris recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Montae with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My drive really came from sports. Back in college, I was working part-time at a UPS warehouse. During the summers, I’d leave open gym and head straight to work, and sometimes after my shift I’d come back to the gym just to get more shots up. That kind of work ethic is what’s gotten me here. But I’ve also learned that if you push too hard, burnout can happen, so I’m working on finding more balance. At the same time, I can’t take all the credit , my family deserves a lot of it too. My mom, dad, grandma, aunties, and uncles all work incredibly hard. I didn’t come from a lazy family, and that foundation shaped me. So I thank God for that!

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My story has always been rooted in sports, especially basketball, but over time I’ve transitioned into building a platform that helps others. We all need motivation, and sometimes just a little push from each other can go a long way. That’s what my podcast is about, purely to inspire, create opportunities, and grow together. The most exciting part is sharing real moments with people and hearing the passion they have for what they love. That energy is what makes it all worthwhile.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Being a great listener, a team player, and creative, that’s what got me here. For anyone starting from the ground up, I’d say lean into your strengths. Not everyone has the same qualities, but the ones you do have can be powerful tools for building your career. Whatever your strengths are, use them.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
I’ve learned that not everyone smiling in your face is rooting for you. Some people won’t want to see you win, and that’s why you’ve got to protect your dreams and stay focused. But I’ll never be the type to gatekeep or block blessings, what’s meant for you will always come. And if I’m ever in a position to help, I’ll always give that hand up.
