Meet Morgan Crain

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Morgan Crain . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Morgan below.

Hi Morgan , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I found my purpose when I hit rock bottom. I found myself going through a divorce, working nonstop in a role I didn’t find fulfilling, and disconnected totally from joy and everything that made me “me.” Luckily I was able to get into therapy and was encouraged to get to know myself again. I became hyper-attentive to even the smallest tasks. What did I like about my daily life? Where was there room for improvement? I realized I was happiest when I was creating, and when I was lifting up others—particularly women. Over time I developed a plan to exit my career, enter the beauty industry, and become my own boss. And despite the odds, I did it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Hi, readers! My name is Morgan and I’m a Hair & Makeup Artist based in Central Arkansas. I offer both mobile and in-salon services with extended hours to cater to individuals with busy schedules. Before I was in the beauty industry I had a more traditional 9-to-5 schedule and I had a hard time getting to the salon to get my beauty services completed during a time that was convenient for both myself and my beauty service providers. When I began cosmetology school I knew I wanted to troubleshoot this and make convenience a key part of my business model. I’ve been able to meet some amazing people and I’m building a clientele that I love dearly! I specialize in special event hair and makeup, bridal hair and makeup, and vivid hair colors. If this sounds like your cup of tea, give me a follow on socials! I would love to chat @pinkblazermobilebeauty

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
You’ve got to learn to go for what you want. Don’t worry if it’s “cringe,” don’t worry about who is going to chat about you in a group text. You have to be able to 1. Be able to accept it won’t always be easy to go for your dream. Just commit to getting through it. 2. Stop worrying who is watching. Or who is going to judge you. They’ll be on the sidelines when you’re at the bottom and times are tough, and they’ll be on the sidelines when you’re winning. 3. Keep it all in perspective. On your worst professional day if you still have your health, a roof over your head, and a warm meal, you’re already better off, statistically, than most of the world’s population. You’re going to be okay!

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I’m always open to collab! Photographers, theatre groups, models—whomever! If you’re looking for a one woman glam team to hype you up and make your jaw drop when you see your own reflection, holler at me!
