Meet Morgan Linson

We recently connected with Morgan Linson and have shared our conversation below.

Morgan , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
As an African American woman raised in South Central Los Angeles, my resilience stems from various sources deeply rooted in my personal experiences. Being the oldest child, I felt a profound sense of responsibility to set an example for my siblings and friends, igniting a fierce determination within me at an early age. This drive was further compounded by the experiences of my parents, who didn’t complete their college education and faced various challenges in their lives. Witnessing these hurdles and mistakes propelled me to forge a different path and avoid repeating their struggles, instilling within me a ceaseless determination to utilize education as a vehicle for empowerment, liberation, and creating new opportunities for myself and those around me. I made a conscientious decision to utilize education as my gateway to freedom, strategically breaking free from the confines of complacency, financial constraints, and the void of knowledge that often constrained individuals in my community. This unwavering commitment to leverage education as a catalyst for my emancipation fostered a spirit of resilience within me, propelling me to surmount the adversities that permeated my surroundings and to strive toward creating a better path for myself and those around me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am passionate about leveraging my background in healthcare to make meaningful contributions to the community. As a healthcare professional, I promote equitable access to quality care and improve health outcomes, particularly for marginalized and underserved populations. I serve as a Professor in the registered nursing program at the local community college. Through this role, I have the privilege of sharing knowledge and expertise with aspiring nurses, helping to shape the next generation of healthcare professionals. It is a joy to witness the growth and development of these students as they prepare to embark on their journeys in nursing. In addition to my role as a Registered Nurse and Professor, I am the Founder and CEO of Mor Girls with Goals, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering and uplifting youth aged 7-24 in underserved communities. I am deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of leaders and change-makers. Through mentorship, educational programs, and community engagement, we strive to provide youth with the tools and resources they need to achieve their full potential, fostering a sense of purpose and hope. This work is incredibly exciting and fulfilling, as it allows me to impact young individuals’ lives, shaping their futures and contributing to a more inclusive and equitable society.

As we look to the future, our organization is eagerly planning new initiatives and community events tailored to the unique needs of the youth we serve, aiming to expand our impact and reach more individuals.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, I believe that resilience, adaptability, and emotional intelligence were the three most impactful qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that played a pivotal role in my journey. Resilience has allowed me to navigate challenges and setbacks while keeping sight of my goals, even in the face of adversity. Adaptability has enabled me to embrace change and emerge stronger and more versatile as a result. Emotional intelligence has fundamentally shaped my ability to communicate effectively, connect with others, and navigate complex situations with empathy and understanding.

For those who are early in their journey, I would recommend the following advice. Firstly, focus on developing resilience by understanding that setbacks are a natural part of any journey, and by learning from them and using them as opportunities for growth. Building adaptability through open-mindedness, flexibility, and an eagerness to learn will allow individuals to thrive in an ever-changing environment. Lastly, fostering emotional intelligence by practicing active listening, empathy, and self-awareness will be beneficial not only in personal growth but in building meaningful relationships and achieving success in both personal and professional endeavors.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Absolutely, I am actively seeking to collaborate with individuals who are passionate about empowering and investing in the youth of our communities. The mission of my nonprofit organization, Mor Girls with Goals, presents an ideal opportunity for people who wish to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young individuals. Whether through volunteering time, contributing financial support, or offering specific skills, there are numerous ways for individuals to get involved. I am keen to partner with those who are enthusiastic about fostering potential in young people, and I invite anyone interested in collaborating to get in touch. You can connect with me through, and I am looking forward to joining forces to drive positive change for the youth in our communities.
