Meet Morgan Staten

We were lucky to catch up with Morgan Staten recently and have shared our conversation below.

Morgan , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
For a decade, I was convinced my purpose was to only be an entertainer, spreading my music around the world. My actual purpose has been revealed to me with a bigger mission. I never knew that God would place me in the position to not only help others, but heal others through music and autism advocacy. My purpose, my calling is to help and pour into mothers and parents in general, raising neurodivergent children. Apart of my purpose is also giving people the confidence to go after their dreams, hone into their skills to prove it can be done. Pouring from an empty cup is never an option.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Creatively, I am a rapper, singer, dancer and model. The best part about being an artist is my ability to use it as therapy and in the midst, heal others. If someone can relate to a song, be inspired by my work, then that is a win for me. I like to show my supporters that’s it’s okay to not have it all together but still be a force! As long as you’re working towards your dreams, anything is possible. Professionally, I have a degree in Human Development and Family Studies, which led me to work with autistic children. I have a set of my own twins that are autistic and that has also lead me to do my own research and studies on neurodivergent children. My book will be coming out soon with my own testimony and information that can help autism families. I am very excited about this project!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Persistence, curiosity and confidence were extremely impactful in my journey. When I set my mind on a specific goal, nothing gets in the way of me achieving it. I’ve learned to trust where the universe and God is guiding me to stay on the correct path. Knowledge is truly a gift that we all can gain. Having a curious mind, always itching to find answers on various topics, has allowed me to have a no limitation mind set. I’ve discovered so much about myself in the process of learning. Confidence can put you in rooms that you never thought you’d be in. Stay the course, block the outside noise out and always do what’s in your heart.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
As we get older, we realize our parents loved us and poured into us from their own capacity. There were times, I wish I had more support in certain areas growing up. But as an adult, I can truly say that I’m thankful that my parents didn’t help me out with every step of adulthood. When I’m drowning, they save me, but they gave me wings at an early age. I was forced to be 100% independent, strong-willed and they’ve given me freedom to be who I want to be.
