Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Morgan Wright. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Morgan, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I used to really struggle with this but I learned that confidence is having the courage to be who you are and do things your way in spite of what anyone else thinks. If people like me, cool, if they don’t, that’s fine too. Discovering who I am for me (my self development journey), really helped me get here.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m not gonna lie, artistic expression and visual storytelling is my lane of genius. Over 16 years of experience in photography has awarded me the expertise to specialize in what I love- bold, dynamic, punchy visuals that capture the style + personality of each person I work with. I think making photoshoots personal delivers the best results, so that’s what I do, and I prefer to do it in a vibrant and bold way. Pretty much nothing about my photography is traditional and that’s what I love about it.
On a deeper level, I love collaborating creatively with somebody who wants to express their inner thoughts and feelings. Maybe it’s an emotion they want to convey or a dream they want to see realized. I think the act of being creative (which I believe is inherent in all of us), allows us to dive deeper into discovering who we are, and I think there’s self love and healing in that journey too. Art has healed me 100x over and I want others to experience that.
As fas as services I offer, yes! I do have services i’m re-launching currently. As I restructure my business I’m dedicated to making working with me just more clear and simple so I’ve cut down the amount of offerings. Now I focus solely on outdoor-adventure portraiture, studio portraiture, and creative branding for unconventional creatives and service providers.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Take risks, reflect, and be open minded
Take risks – my advice is don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and try new things. Travel a different way home, collaborate with someone new, try a new restaurant and watch a documentary on a subject you wouldn’t normally.
Reflect – I think it’s really important to reflect on things that have happened. What’s working? What isn’t working? Examine the data and you’ll learn much faster.
Be open minded – being close minded is such a red flag for my creative spirit and it stifles my ability to connect with other people. When i’m open, I’m more receptive to ideas and energies and even feedback and criticisms. I try to put myself in other peoples shoes and be vigilante. Considering other point of views makes me stronger and more personable.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Yes! If you’re a creative type or creative business owner in Austin, Texas, I’d love to connect with you! 🙂
I’m looking to expand services out in Austin in 2025, and would love to make some new creative friends there. Feel free to say hello on Instagram if you want to connect 🙂
