We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Morgen Horner a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Morgen, we are so deeply grateful to you for opening up about your journey with mental health in the hops that it can help someone who might be going through something similar. Can you talk to us about your mental health journey and how you overcame or persisted despite any issues? For readers, please note this is not medical advice, we are not doctors, you should always consult professionals for advice and that this is merely one person sharing their story and experience.
Honestly A huge part of my journey has been writing music about my mental health. It’s given me a outside look on my day to day struggles and as a creative outlet it has helped me process my mental health alongside the trauma that has happened in my life. To me writing and producing music is not just a passion or a job it’s how I cope with everything life puts me through. Even with my rare type of deafness called Amusia I still find joy in the music process because it helps me express myself in a way just words cannot. It also let’s me share my experience with others and maybe help them through something similar.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
As a writer and producer of music I am passionate about spreading awareness of different topics through lyrics. I have written songs about mental health such as: Anxiety- Talks about my personal experience with anxiety and panic attacks, The Place Where Dark Thoughts Riot- Talks about my Chronic Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD) and the feeling of paranoia that always seems to linger after I was held hostage in the beginning of 2025. I write music about not giving up even in the darkest moments. I write to inspire, Imform and provide support to others around the world. You can find all my music available to stream on YouTube, Apple Music, and Spotify under my artist name MorgensLifeLens. I recently completed an interview with Frankie Boyer Radio Show, and I’m going to be interviewed by a local broadcasting station in Easthampton Massachusetts USA called E-media on 10/09/25 Although I’m unsure when or where these events will be available as of yet I will be giving updates on that and my music on my YouTube community page as well as on Facebook and Snapchat. Again just search MorgensLifeLens.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Honestly I think the most impactful thing is that I have no knowledge of what works and what doesn’t and I don’t let that stop me. I live and learn as I go and that’s another reason to me why my journey in the music industry has been so fun!
My only advice is: ‘Listen to your heart just as much as your brain. Don’t let others say you can’t and if they do prove them wrong by doing it anyway.’-Morgen Horner

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am always looking for people who are willing and able to let me share my music, my story with mental health or to teach people about my rare form of deafness called Amusia. So anyone who might want an interview, podcast, article, radio show, or in person show should email me at [email protected] Any exposure on my journey will be extremely helpful to me.
