Meet Mr. Darius L. Tigner-Jackson

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mr. Darius L. Tigner-Jackson . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Mr. Darius L. , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
God has given me several talents some I know of and some are there but yet to know what they are. There are two I will discuss off the top of my head. One, having the instrument of voice – I’ve been singing in my church choir since I was ten years old. Currently I sing with Big Bethel AME Church and Vincent Bohanan & The Victorious Army Atlanta Choir. I enjoy spreading God’s word and ministering to his people. Second, having the knowledge to help others thrive in today’s economic environment with employment, education, and lifestyle resources. In all of the my purpose would be helping and serving others and God helps and serves me.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My role as a Job Coach at First Step Staffing is so rewarding everyday. I meet with individuals on a daily basis and I have a knowledge and resources to help change their lives to help with employment, education, and supportive services. We have to get back to helping one another grow and be prosperous. Both my grandmother’s Ms. Betty Jean & Ms. Gloria Ann have kept me in the word of God by teaching me that God rewards those who are rewarding to others.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Religion – being a Christian and having a relationship with God whose the head of my life. Technology – be adaptive to what’s trending on the professional and personal side.
Family – the individuals who give and show me love is the ones I kept dear to my heart.
Stay grounded in your purpose once you find out what is your purpose. Whatever dreams or aspirations you have keep the between you and one the person you trust you life with. If you’re a Christian pray continuously and tithe.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
Having being with a company that has the resources need for me to be a better servant to others. I’ve been in Staffing, Recruitment, and Human Resources Management since 2009 and I am still enjoying the ride of the wave. Coming from Corporate America and now in Non-Profit has been a awesome adjustment. In my previous roles I have been the one interviewing and passing the deemed candidate down the pipeline. That was so blinding not knowing how the remainder of the process looks for them. Now, being a Job Coach I am able to coach the candidates and literally give them the job – so the walk away in a better state than which they came. At First Step Staffing, we provide uniforms, shoes/boots, socks, belts, whatever they need to take away that barrier so they can focus on the next phase of their life.
