Mr. , appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
I keep my creativity alive by participating in writing sessions with other creatives, going to workshops, listening to music and studying the lyrics of some of my favorite artists. I also get my creativity sparked by conversations with friends and experiencing life.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

My name is Mr. Enlightenment. I’m a poet and spoken word artist living in Charleston, SC. The most exciting part of being a poet is that I get to share my stories with a variety of audiences.
I write like I’m afraid of the dark. My poetry is written to entertain and inspire.
I released a book of poetry in March of 2023 titled Flicker Poetry (available on Amazon).

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three qualities that impacted my journey were perseverance, consistency, and positivity. I think the key to developing perseverance is to be able to deal with failures and rejection. It’s all about trial and error. Consistency can be developed by creating a schedule for yourself or making goals to help with your progress. A positive attitude can help with networking and meeting people. They will remember the way you carried yourself especially when things aren’t going your way.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
The challenge that I face is balancing my poetry with my full time job. My full time job doesn’t allows allow me to travel to events out of town as much as I would like. I’d also like to improve my time management skills to be able to juggle things more effectively.
