Meet Mrs.Carmen Tucker

We recently connected with Mrs.Carmen Tucker and have shared our conversation below.

Mrs.Carmen , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I get my resilience from my mother. I’ve always admired that about my mother. No matter any difficult situation life has thrown at her she has always pushed through and never gave up. Whenever difficult times arise I try not to focus on the problem but focus on finding a resolution.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am baker/cake designer. I have recently starting taking orders for weddings. I mostly design birthday cakes however I offer cakes for all occasions. I am currently working on getting my products into local restaurants and we plan to start a food truck(God willing). I’ve have other plans to expand Delectable Delights but I’ll save that for when the dream finally comes to life.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Research is everything. You can never learn too much. You have to stay inspired and continue to find ways to improve yourself and your brand. Taking time out to focus on your business and what you want your business to look like. Focus on one thing at a time. I had to tell myself that I do not have to offer everything that everyone else does. I focused on the products that I enjoyed the most and limited my offering’s to just those items. I don’t offer any products that I don’t enjoy making.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
My husband! He has been my biggest supporter throughout this journey. I can’t thank him enough. He has always believed in me. I am blessed to have a husband who is a provider. This has allowed me to not be forced to work a traditional job. I am able to put those hours into Delectable Delights LLC and our family. A lot of people miss out on their dreams being forced to work long hours at a traditional job. I am able to drive my kids to and from school, spend time with them and work on growing Delectable Delights in hopes that one day the business will be successful enough that my husband can retire.
