We were lucky to catch up with Ms. Perry recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ms., we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
My confidence and self-esteem grew as I learned to appreciate and embrace my unique qualities, including my physical appearance. By focusing on self-care, practicing positive self-talk, and acknowledging my strengths, I developed a sense of inner beauty that radiates outward. Additionally, surrounding myself with positivity and engaging in activities that bring me joy helped me feel more confident and comfortable in my own skin.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’d like to consider myself a serial entrepreneur these days. The first time you guys unterviewed me i was just starting my hair business and here we are almost 3 years later and I’ve become a hairstylist as well in addition to content creation, and graphic design. I’ve also created a business planner for women who want to start their own business and need to keep everything organized and planned out.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Persistence, diligence, and seeing the big picture. Running a business or multiple businesses is so stressful, don’t ever thing it’ll be a breeze. But it has to be in u. No matter what it the business is, if you’re not naturally a boss it’s not for u. You’ll figure that out your first few months. It sounds super good, you think “I’ll start my business and make $30k my first year”. Kudos to those that do! But starting from the ground up will humble u. You have to know how to promote yourself, you have to know how to target your audience, you have to be kind to people, you can’t cheat your way though the hustle. All the tears and restlessness will be worth it just keep going and do it with integrity.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
When i feel overwhelmed i just stop everything and take a step back. I say a small prayer and just take some time to gather my thoughts and resume whatever it is later. Sometimes u have to push back due dates you’ve previously set for yourself to gain control of your thoughts and do things when they feel right.
