We caught up with the brilliant and insightful MsJ7 a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
MsJ7, so great to have you with us and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with the community. So, let’s jump into something that stops so many people from going after their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. We’d love to hear about how you dealt with that and persisted on your path.
I vividly remember my entertainment attorney telling me during our very first meeting that the more visible my career became, the more negativity and criticism I would face. Her words were meant to prepare me, but in many ways, I had already lived through the kind of adversity that shapes a person long before fame or notoriety ever does.
Throughout junior high and high school, I endured years of bullying and emotional torment. Those experiences were incredibly painful, but they taught me resilience long before I even knew I would need it. By the time I entered my professional life, I had already learned how to rise above people’s projections, insecurities, and limitations. I understood the “why” behind my bullies, and that awareness became one of my greatest strengths.
Choosing to place my trust in God—and in the gifts He placed within me—was the turning point. Once I embraced that calling, stepping away from the traditional 9-to-5 world didn’t feel like a risk; it felt like alignment. It was as if everything I had survived up to that point had been preparing me for the moment I decided to follow my own path.
My persistence is the result of many layers: God’s grace, the therapy that helped guide me through my adolescence, and years of holding onto faith even when circumstances tried to break it. Every challenge, every setback, and every moment of doubt became fuel. And over time, that combination of faith, healing, and determination shaped me into someone who refuses to be defined by her past—but is undeniably strengthened by it.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m often asked what I do, and the truth is beautifully simple: I create waking dreams. Through performance art and humanitarian work, I’ve dedicated my life to bringing awe, wonder, and purpose into the world. In 2010, I took a leap of faith, walked away from everything familiar, and founded my own Cirque Entertainment Company. Since then, I’ve been blessed to build an empire that has surpassed major industry giants like Sea World and the San Diego Zoo in the category of “Best Family Entertainment.”
My humanitarian passions—especially animal rights and bringing clean drinking water to less fortunate nations—became the guiding force behind everything I’ve created. Those missions grounded me, fueled me, and ultimately led me to trust God and embrace a calling where performing wasn’t just art—it became a purpose-driven movement.
Over the last fifteen years, my company has grown from a single dream into a full-scale production powerhouse. With more than 250 international performance artists, we’ve brought imagination to life for audiences across the globe. Every show gives us the chance to breathe life into the fantastical and create moments people carry with them forever.
We design and produce events from the ground up—galas, corporate functions, themed celebrations, private parties, celebrity events and everything in between. Our services span custom prop and scenic fabrication, themed décor, world-class makeup artists, face and body painters, videographers, photographers, and costume designers. We also offer live musicians, DJs, and holiday caroling.
We combine specialized planners, rentals, venue partnerships, and every creative element required to craft a truly magical experience.
While Cirque-style performances are our signature, I tell every client the same thing: If you can dream it—and you have a budget for it—we can create it, build it, and bring it to life. Our home base is in San Diego, but our reach is global. We’re sought after for music videos, film, television, commercials, cosplay appearances, beach events, park celebrations, and luxury private productions.
We also share our magic with children’s celebrations and have become well-known for our whimsical Bubble Shows, Disney Princess performers, magicians, movie car experiences, and all the enchanting elements that make children’s parties unforgettable—from elaborate balloon art to glitter-and-gem face painting.
Our Cirque offerings include acts such as Cyr Wheel, Aerial Silks and Trapeze, Lollipop Lyra, Fire Performers, Wire Walkers, Stilt Walkers, Strolling Champagne Skirts, Sword Swallowers and of course, Living Mermaids and their swashbuckling Pirates.
After helping bring clean water to nine countries, I’ve shifted my current fundraising efforts toward supporting the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya. I am deeply committed to rescuing and rehabilitating wildlife and fiercely passionate about freeing animals from the entertainment industry entirely.
At the heart of everything I do is purpose. I don’t perform to pay rent. I don’t compete. I don’t seek validation. I create and perform because it is the calling God placed on my life. And while that may frustrate some people in my industry, I’ve learned that staying true to my purpose will always matter more than anyone’s opinions.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three qualities that have shaped my journey more than anything else are rooted in very personal parts of my life. First, my athletic upbringing gave me the physical confidence and mental tenacity to run away and join the circus at 34—even without a family legacy in performing or a lifetime of formal circus training. Second, learning to step aside, surrender my fears, and allow God to take the wheel changed everything. And third, I’ve held tightly to humility, kindness, and gratitude. Those values keep me grounded, no matter how far my career expands, and they remind me that every opportunity I’m given is a chance to create unforgettable memories for others.
For anyone beginning their own journey, my greatest advice is to trust your intuition with unwavering faith. Your gut will guide you long before your mind understands the path. Remember that each of us is the hero of our own story, and each life carries a unique, irreplaceable purpose. Success is not a competition, and life isn’t measured by paychecks or applause. It’s about learning, growing, lifting one another up, and choosing love—always.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?
If I were told I had only ten years left on this earth, I know exactly what I would do. I would spend every remaining day walking fully in the purpose God placed on my heart. I would step away from everything I’ve built—not out of fear, but out of faith—and I would run straight toward the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Sanctuary.
There is something undeniably holy about that place. I can feel it in my spirit every time I think about it. My dream is to live among God’s animals, to wake up each morning and bottle-feed the baby elephants, to go out on rescue missions, and to care for the wounded and abandoned creatures who need love the most. That, to me, would be the most beautiful way to spend the rest of my days.
If my time were limited, that is where I would choose to make my final years count—in service, in compassion, in God’s creation, doing the quiet but sacred work of protecting the animals He entrusted to us.
