We were lucky to catch up with Owen Hisle recently and have shared our conversation below.
Owen, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I get my resilience from my Lord & Savior Jesus.

ABOUT ME AND MY STORY:
*I have a ministry called Shattered And Restored. Shattered And Restored is geared towards providing informational help for Christian men (married or single) in the Denver Colorado metro area. I created this ministry because I got too wrapped-up and engulfed with myself, I put myself before Jesus, I also found myself moving further and further away from my relationship with Jesus and moving closer and closer to a very dark place of sin. I allowed my pride and selfishness to ruin and destroy my relationship with Jesus (so I thought)……. Ooops, I ran out of keyboard ink lol lol. BIO:
*As a little boy since the 70’s, I always knew I wanted to be an actor some day (not knowing then that Producing, Directing & Voice-Overs would be my actual calling) but, I also knew I wanted to make the Army my first stop. In 1984 at 24 I joined the United States Army. Because it was known by many of my Military NCO’s & Officers that I wanted to pursue an acting career, I had the awesome opportunity to work OJT outside my regular assigned MOS-11Mike-(Infantry 3RD ID), as a movie photographer, film camera operator and movie director for various military missions and as an assistant director to the director for plays the military put on for soldiers (that was the best 6 months experience I had). My intentions were to serve 20 to 30 years in the military, retire and then allow my military retirement funds help me in pursuing an acting career……. Ooops, I ran out of keyboard ink again lol lol. Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1), Keep your day job
2), When starting out in the film industry, it’s always best to start out in your own back yard because it’s better to be a bigger fish in a smaller pond then to be a smaller fish in a bigger pond and if you become that good, no worries, they’ll find you
3), The saying goes “it takes 20 years and 1 day to make it”. You’ll always know when the 20 years goes by however, you never know when that 1 day will get here. It could only take just 1 day or another 20 years
4), Don’t give up
5), The only reason other’s starting out make it big so quick is, they are related to someone famous, they are close friends in some way to someone famous, they sell their souls by sleeping with someone famous, they have a unique gift that no one can pass up, they come from lots & lots of money – millions / billions (you do the math) or, their just in the right place at the right time (which is rare)
6), Graduate from HS, get a college degree with something as a back-up

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Yes I am. I don’t know anyone from Hollywood. I’m not related to anyone important or famous. I don’t come from money. I just want a chance. I just want that one first time big break like everyone else that will change everything. I want the right investor/s to come along and say “if Hisle Films can make these small short films on such small budgets which have won multiple awards imagine what kind of first time full feature movie they can produce and direct if they were given a few million dollars”. Are you where you are today because you were in a situation where you too just needed a chance, were looking for that one first time big break and you got one??
