Meet Munya

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Munya. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Munya, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

Oh man that’s a good question! I guess I was brought up that way. See when I was a kid my parents always told me to do my school work first and then have fun and do whatever right. And back then I thought what’s the point, but I still did it. And now my brain simply works that way. Now I know how important it is to put in the hours, to practice, to really work on something. And now, even on the days where I’m tired or not really in the mood for anything, I still get up and do my work, do my practice, because I understand that without practice and repetitions I’ll get nowhere. No one is gonna do my work instead of me. It’s all on me, I’m the only one that can do it right. I’m putting the hours in so I can be the best at what I do! I want to be the best as I can be, and I understand now I’ll get there only one way – practice and work!

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Well I’m a Slovenia born guitarist, musician. A couple of years ago I decided to do a 3 month guitar program at Musicians Institute in Hollywood and I loved it so much I had to come back! I took my guitar and moved to LA to do Associate of Arts degree at Musicians Institute. It was a difficult choice to move to the other side of the planet to pursue my dreams of music, but I have no regrets! I love my school, the new friends and contacts I made and I love the city! LA is the best! And in my oppinion, as a musician, you can’t be in a better city than LA! Besides going to MI I also play at local Hollywood/wider LA area gigs and jams! I usually play once a week at different clubs or bars, but in September I’m stepping it up and I’ll do as many gigs as I can, two or three a week! I love playing live, I love playing for the crowd, I love everything about it! The adrenaline rush before stage, moving around on stage, seeing the crowd vibe with us while we play… love it! I know this is what I want to do for the rest of my life! I always post the info about my upcoming shows on my Instagram, so check my IG out and when the next show is happening, come see me play live! It’ll be an honor to play for you all!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Discipline, never giving up and really enjoying what you do! If you don’t enjoy doing it, it’s not for you, find something else. Because what’s the point of doing something if it doesn’t bring you any joy. You have to be disciplined and like I said earlier, you have to put the work in! And most important man, when it gets tough, when it gets hard, you musn’t give up! No one said it’s going to be easy, you have to persist! When other people tell you to leave it alone or give up, don’t listen to them! They don’t believe in you man. You have to believe in yourself! And that’s very important! You have to believe in yourself, you have to believe it’s possible, because only then it will be! Stay true to yourself and trust yourself!

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Oh yeah always! I’m always down for that! If anyone wants to play some banging 80s rock, hard rock, glam music or some good old blues, hit me up! Or if you want to play anything else infact! I’m always trying to broaden my horizon when it comes to music! People see me and they go: yeah that guy only plays and listens to metal. No! Not at all! That’s the furthest from the truth you can go! I play and listen to all sorts of music and I’m always excited to play all kinds of it! Even if I don’t know the style, I’ll be happy to check it out and learn it! So if you just wanna do some good music, if you wanna collab or jam or do some serious stuff and have some fun doing it, by all means, hit me up! I’d be more than happy to play with you! The best way to connect with me is Instagram. Send me a dm and let’s play!
