We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Myasia White a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Myasia, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I didn’t always have confidence or high self-esteem. For a long time, I questioned my worth and who I was. But over time, I learned that my confidence comes from knowing I’m made in God’s image. That truth changed everything for me. Even when I felt like I had nothing left, I held on to the reminder that God doesn’t make mistakes, and He didn’t start with me.
There were moments when life had me down, when it felt like everything was falling apart. But even in those dark times, I could feel God whispering that something greater was on the other side of my pain. So now, whenever things get hard, I don’t let it break me. I stay focused, I keep my faith strong, and I trust that every storm is preparing me for something bigger. That’s where my strength, and my confidence, truly come from.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Writing has truly been one of the most powerful parts of my journey. My first book and journal, Beyond Strength: Healing Within God, was where I started to really open up about my healing process. It’s a guide for anyone learning to trust God again after being hurt, for anyone trying to find peace after pain. Writing it was deeply personal, it helped me release things I had been holding onto and reminded me that healing isn’t always pretty, but it’s always possible with God.
My second book, Unbreakable: Bent but Not Broken, goes even deeper. It’s my story, my truth, about everything I’ve faced and how I refused to let my past define me. That book is about survival, faith, and strength, but most of all, it’s about knowing that no matter how many times life bends you, you don’t have to break. Through both books, my goal has always been to give people hope, to let them know they’re not alone, and to remind them that God’s grace covers every part of their story.
Right now, my focus is continuing to share my journey through my writing and creating more spaces for healing, growth, and faith. I want people to see that their story matters, that every chapter, even the painful ones, are part of something bigger God is writing.
At the end of the day, I’m just grateful that God is using my story to touch others. Beyond Strength and Unbreakable are more than just books, they’re pieces of my heart and proof that even in brokenness, there is beauty. My message to anyone reading is simple: keep going, keep believing, and trust that God is working even when you can’t see it. You are stronger than you think, and your story is far from over.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are faith, resilience, and self-awareness. Faith has always been my anchor. Believing that God had a plan for me, even when life felt heavy, gave me the strength to keep moving forward. That’s something I explore deeply in my first book and journal, Beyond Strength: Healing Within God, where I share how trusting God through pain is the first step toward real healing.
Resilience is another key quality, learning to keep going even when everything feels like it’s falling apart. My second book, Unbreakable: Bent but Not Broken, is really about that. It tells my story of overcoming trauma and challenges, showing that no matter how many times life bends you, you don’t have to break.
Self-awareness has also been essential. Understanding myself, my emotions, my triggers, and my purpose allowed me to navigate life with more clarity and strength. Journaling, reflecting, and being honest with myself have been huge tools in that process, and I encourage others to do the same.
For anyone early in their journey, my advice would be to start with small steps. Build your faith in whatever way is meaningful to you through prayer, reflection, or just trusting the process. Practice resilience by embracing challenges as opportunities to grow, not reasons to quit. And cultivate self-awareness by journaling, reflecting, or talking to mentors who can help you see your strengths and areas for growth. Most importantly, be patient with yourself. Growth doesn’t happen overnight, and every step, even the difficult ones, is shaping the person you’re meant to become.
Through my books and my journey, I hope to show others that no matter what they’re facing, they can rise again, stronger, wiser, and unbreakable.

We’ve all got limited resources, time, energy, focus etc – so if you had to choose between going all in on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong, what would you choose?
I believe it’s important to find a balance between going all in on your strengths and improving areas you’re not as strong in, but if I had to choose where to put the most energy, I would focus on your strengths. Strengths are where your passion, talent, and purpose naturally meet, and when you invest in those, you can make the biggest impact. That doesn’t mean ignoring your weaknesses but instead learning enough to navigate them while letting your gifts shine.
For me, this played out in both my teaching and my writing. I realized early on that my greatest strengths are connecting with people, inspiring them, and sharing my story in a way that encourages growth and healing. That’s why I focused on teaching and writing books like Beyond Strength: Healing Within God and Unbreakable: Bent but Not Broken. There were definitely areas where I struggled, such as public speaking, self-doubt, and even learning some technical aspects of publishing and running a college program, but I didn’t let those stop me. I worked on them just enough to get by, while pouring most of my energy into the strengths that truly mattered.
One moment that really showed me this was during the writing of Unbreakable. I had to confront some painful memories and be completely honest with myself and my readers. That was terrifying, but I knew my strength was in storytelling and vulnerability. Focusing on that allowed me to create a book that could actually help others, rather than getting stuck trying to perfect every weakness along the way.
So, my view is to lean into your strengths, invest in them deeply, and use your weaknesses strategically. When you do that, you’re not just growing, you’re making the biggest difference in your life and in the lives of others.
