Meet Myla Deets

We recently connected with Myla Deets and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Myla with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

My work ethic comes from being inspired by top photographers who push the boundaries of creativity and excellence. Seeing their work, learning from their experiences, and admiring their dedication drives me to continually improve and innovate. I’m motivated by the likes of Cecil Beaton, Annie Leibovitz, and Sonia Szóstak, who show me that hard work, attention to detail, and a passion for storytelling can lead to truly remarkable results. Their influence reminds me to stay focused, keep learning, and always strive for excellence in my own work.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Photography is my language of love, and I’m passionate about capturing the unbridled beauty of human connection. Rooted in Saipan since 1996, I’ve mastered the art of harnessing the island’s ethereal light to craft vibrant, emotional stories. My pursuit? Authenticity. I’m driven by the thrill of capturing genuine moments and the trust my clients place in me to preserve their memories. Now, I’m embarking on a new journey – creating a safe, inclusive space for LGBTQ couples to celebrate their love on Saipan. My heart beats faster at the thought of collaborating with fellow creatives, exploring new destinations, and pushing the boundaries of my art. I’m thrilled to share my new website, (https://www.mycapituresphoto.com/mylaweddings), a labor of love and a glimpse into my creative soul. Join me on this journey as we create something beautiful, authentic, and truly unforgettable. Let’s celebrate love in all its forms.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Reflecting on my journey, I’ve identified three key qualities that have driven my success: vulnerability, creative integrity, and adventurous curiosity. These qualities have fostered deep trust, innovative storytelling, and continuous growth.

To those just starting out, I offer this advice: embrace openness, stay true to your artistic voice, and cultivate a sense of wonder. Vulnerability builds strong connections, creative integrity fosters credibility, and adventurous curiosity sparks innovative breakthroughs. By embodying these qualities, you’ll find fulfillment and purpose in your journey. Enjoy the ride!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

In the photography industry, networking is crucial for growth, inspiration, and opportunity. I’m eager to expand my network and collaborate with fellow portrait photographers who share my passion for fashion photography creativity. If you’re a like-minded individual with a unique perspective, let’s connect and create something extraordinary together!

Additionally, I’m interested in collaborating with fashion magazines to bring my expertise to the forefront of the industry. By building relationships and collaborating with others, we can elevate our craft, stay informed about industry trends, and unlock new opportunities.

If you’re interested in collaborating or simply want to connect, please reach out through my website or social media channels. Let’s leverage the power of networking to take our photography to the next level!
