We recently connected with Myles Jenkins and have shared our conversation below.
Myles , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I believe my work ethic came from being a product of my environment! What I mean by that is I was born in Lowell Massachusetts and I ended up living in Worcester Massachusetts. Great Brook valley projects where my mother raised 5 of us in a low income poverty household. I felt I always had to work my way to survive and to really make it out I had to set my expectations high where expectations was surviving. When I created jeanious I realized that all my hard work, blood, sweat and tears was driving from my motivation to inspire people. I became self driven to become a better version of myself everyday. The motivation to understand the difference between purpose and inspiration has to become a reality for me to be successful. Hard work is the difference between successful and failing don’t get me wrong failing is apart of the process of becoming successful.I always wanted this dream to inspire kids like myself that grew up with nothing and made something out of nothing. In order to do the pursue of happiness only goes as far as you want it to go. Living the life you want and not what others want. Everyone has a different perspective of rich some think it’s money some thing it’s living for the simple things in life like kids, family, longevity of a legacy.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I wanted to become an inspiration to people that didn’t have hope, to give people hope that pursuing your dream is a reality and not a long shot to life. Jeanious 110 is more than a brand it’s a lifestyle that is driven by motivation, determination and family. A thought that was turn into a reality. My goal is to become the first inspiration clothing brand out! Not by just putting words on a shirt but to connect with real people and showing them that life is more then just a 9-5 job life is more than money and clothes. Life is about living the life you worked for as well as returning what you do for people and the community you grew up in. I do exclusive drops that represent a message behind my design I drop every six months. I do a visual video we’re my audience can see visually what I mean when I drop my product. My first drop I did was “I AM JEANIOUS” basically it’s an introduction to my brand what I stand for what I am about. It bridges the gap between fashion and purpose for my brand. I do tee shirts, shorts, I have exclusive packages with hats and t shirts as well as hats and hoodies. I started to sponsor athletes and it’s helping me promote the brand as well as giving them free product for there part of helping market the brand. This dream started from a dorm room and me trying to draw different designs that influence positive impact to people all around the world. Sometimes it starts with a idea but you have to apply yourself to work and creating a vision that helps support where you want to be as a brand. My focus points are youth and really giving them a chance to be who they want to be. Lot of kids are misjudge because of this stigma of how kids grow up or not having certain things that others don’t have. That one kid might be thinking about how he is going to eat tonight or if he will have a place to stay tonight. We all have a story and we all have lived thru circumstances that impact who we are as a person but doesn’t mean that’s who they want to be. I do motivational speaking with kids at different events and being engaged in the community to help. It starts with us as adults as people trying to make a difference in life. God has put me here to be the voice of motivation and I loved thru that all my life. “Inspired By The Dream, Motivated By the Reality” Myles Jenkins
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three most impactful skills you have to have is be self driven, determined and leader. I say those because you have to be self driven to be able to continue to put work in even when you fee you don’t want to or when your friends want to have fun. You have to separate yourself for what it is you want and what it is you need. To be better ones gets you from point A to point B that’s what separates successful people in chasing your dream. Sacrifice what what everyone is doing and were you trying to go in life. Leading by example you have to show people that you’re in the mix with what you stand on wether it’s morals, principles, and accountability. People follow people that they see leading by example. I would say to improve certain skills you have to have consistency, a plan, and follow through with your plan. These help you grow your target numbers as well as reaching your audience.
If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?
I think connecting to your clients or customer is the most important challenge. You have to really connect with them and co tonite to be consistent and innovative towards them. There is only so long that you can keep their attention. Your marketing strategy plays a big important piece of it and really getting the engagement that you need. Growing with social media as well is a big part of keeping up with this generation and making sure you adapt to how the market is moving.
