We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mylira Green. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mylira below.
Hi Mylira, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I developed my confidence and self-esteem by realizing the lack came from my inability to accept my true identity, being a masterpiece formed by God. I spent most of my time chasing more accolades, credentials, and influences, hoping that people would value me. However, this made me feel further disengaged from people because no matter what I did for others, my being was not seen, or at least I felt like it was not. This caused me to stop seeking external validation and seek to find balance in my six dimensions of life.
To fully get out of the dark place of depression that served as a blindfold to me being able to see my true beauty to increase my confidence and self-esteem, I began to set goals in my spiritual, mental, emotional, physical, social, and cash flow dimensions. This resulted in me creating balance in my life. Once I could form a balance, I began to acknowledge life’s truth that no two people are the same. This helped me realize that it wasn’t others’ responsibility to accept my life’s path but my obligation to use my experiences as a stepping stone instead of a stumbling block. This facilitated growth within me, causing me to be confident in my story while not judging myself by my trauma or shortcomings and assess myself through God’s lens.
This acknowledgment was imperative, for it helped me not be ashamed of my differences but embrace them as the elements that allow my light to shine in different rooms. I begin to appreciate the creation of me. I stopped seeking to change myself to be accepted but accepted myself to change the environments I found myself in. I went on a journey of discovering my natural personality traits to be confident in how I showed up in this world, even if how I showed up did not reflect the world’s standards. I now know I am functioning within God’s standards and living out my destined life. I can now work in my strengths, embrace my weaknesses to make room for others to compliment me, and live out boldly the real me I am regardless of my history.
I ensure the maintenance of this level of Godfidence by attending weekly therapy to address my symptoms of PTSD that feeds me lies about my value and working with a Life Coach that reminds me of ways to self-sabotage no longer. No matter how far I’ve come in my confidence and self-esteem journey, i find myself at times needing a reminder. I created the I’m Enough Movement to remind me and others daily that we are valuable enough to live life out fully.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am Mylira Green, a Certified Complex Trauma Professional functioning as a Licensed Clinical Social Work who serves as a psychotherapist, Confidence Coach, Master Healer, and Transformative Speaker. I strive to provide the world with preventative services to lower the rate of suicide worldwide.
I founded M. Green Enterprises, LLC, where I heal leaders to build a better workplace. My goal is to provide training and consultation to businesses looking to revive the lives of their employees by taking an interest in their employees’ holistic health.
I have also recently birthed The Metamorphosis Healing Experience, LLC. I work with individuals to become unstuck and motivated to reach their goals while owning their gifts confidently. I do this by providing person-centered services assisting people with thriving beyond the triggers that proceed post their life’s traumas.
As a social work alum of Norfolk State University and the University of Southern California and a present student at Regent University’s Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership program and Virginia Bible College’s ICF coaching program, I bring nine years of experience assisting individuals addressing their mental and emotional health.
My professional background consists of working in Foster Care, Community Direct Support, Corrections, Substance Abuse, Youth Experiencing Psychosis, Youth with Severe Depression Dealing with Suicidal Ideations, Women with Women’s Issues (i.e., infant loss and death and/or sexual abuse and assault), Couples having Marital Problems, and Military Personnel and their families who struggle with trauma-related issues. I am currently working on certifications for Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to assist young adults with living beyond their childhood traumas. I am certified as a full clinician to conduct the Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach and Community Reinforcement Approach for treating substance use disorders. I am passionate about serving as the bridge between the caterpillar and the butterfly for all I serve. I obtained my license to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia on April 15, 2019, and completed my requirements to be an approved state board supervisor on April 23 and 24, 2021. I have self-published two books entitled, “The Art of Just Being Me: An Interactive Guide to Finding the Courage to Just Be You” and “Free Thyself: A Guide of Healing for Survivors of Sexual Abuse and Assault” and participated in the Speak Out Survivor and Why My Mom Anthologies.
I am currently focused on providing consultation to start-up and growing mental health facilities to create a solid foundation resulting in a transformation in the lives of those they serve, coaching sessions to create a safe environment encouraging brilliant minds who struggle to fit in to reach their highest level of self-esteem, conducting healing sessions to help people of God become more focused while stepping into their purpose, engaging couples in in-depth conversations to gain the confidence needed to make it last forever, and facilitating training/keynote speeches on the role of trauma and mental health in our society to promote professionalism and the importance of self-care in our daily lives and the workplace.
You may find me every Friday on YouTube and Facebook as I serve as the relationship expert on the Michael Coylar Morning Show. I have recently started an initiative to conduct my professional and personal development programs in organizations looking to enhance their workers’ lives called Metamorphosis Experience. I engage your organization’s staff in the M. Green Enterprises, LLC. Metamorphosis Experience Program. During this Development Program, each individual will walk away feeling unstuck and motivated to serve customers, clients confidently, and the community while finding time to own and live out their gifts, inspiring their work environment, community, and household to do the same. This is an 8-week process where each participant will learn the six dimensions of life and the importance of acknowledging the truth (not two people are the same), embracing their differences, utilizing their strengths, embracing their weaknesses, and fully embracing who they are. This program is based on My first book, The Art of Just Being Me: An Interactive Guide in Finding the Courage Just to Be You, and I strive to encourage people to be their authentic selves in every environment.
To further assist people with embracing their true self, I started my I’m Enough Movement. It is an apparel line focused on decreasing the rate of suicide by reminding individuals that they are enough just the way they are. All merchandise may be found on my primary website, www.myliratransforms.com/shop.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The primary quality that was the most impactful in my journey was my ability to see the glass half full. Sometimes my reality looks like it is not getting closer to my dreams, but my faith in God lets me see that even with lack, He is working all things out for my good. I find myself waiting in full anticipation for His best to come to me. Throughout the last six years as a business owner, I have wanted to give up so many times, but the sweet small voice of the Holy Spirit reminded me that I was created with a purpose. I learned the importance of perspective and how our reality has zero to do with what we see but all to do with what we believe. This became important to me, for I had to catch myself where I wanted to see myself, or I would have never tried to work to see God’s promises come to pass.
My empathic edge helped me keep pressing on during this stressful journey and not give up. I know what it feels like to want to give up due to feelings of being alone and unimportant. Because of my traumas, it serves as CPR to my goals and allows me to keep going while helping others overcome their traumas. I encourage all people to find their purpose by addressing their stories. When one embraces their account, they take power out of their fears and anxieties, giving strength to joy, peace, and living life fully. This helps people find a reason to keep going when what is before them tells them that things won’t work out in their favor.
My knowledge as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker has helped me be able to see people in their environment. This helped me not take personally those not ready to change but be the change that sparks them to change. I function from a person-centered lens. This has created a business with multiple layers that indeed provoke a transformation in people’s lives. This has taught me to utilize my education in a non-traditional way to make a difference truly.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
The book that has played an essential role in my development is Nona Jones’s Killing Comparison. As someone who struggles with seeing who God entirely says I am, I found myself comparing myself with others which have kept me from investing and trusting in myself and success. Reading Nona’s book reminded me that my life is not based on others, but on the me God created me to be. I realized I was focusing on others’ success, resulting in me forfeiting mine. I am no longer focused on what I don’t have and functioning in the elements of me that I do have.
