Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Myonia Mckeithen. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Myonia , thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
Creativity always came easy to me even as a child. However when I became and adult creativity started to somewhat seem like a competition on social media of who can be the most “creative “ so with that I had to train my mindset to understand creativity is not a competition it’s a form of expression. I keep my creativity alive by always remembering why I fell in love with photography & Art in general. That, this is how I express myself and no one can take that away from me. There are no rules when it comes to art.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Throughout my life, photography has been an integral part of my identity. It all began when I received my first Barbie polaroid camera as a child, which sparked a passion for capturing images of my family members and surroundings. In high school, my photography teacher recognized my talent and encouraged me to pursue it professionally. This validation solidified my passion for photography, and I have since become a published photographer, featured in various magazines and recognized for my expertise. Currently, my focus is on beauty photography, as it provides me with an outlet for creative expression.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
A key takeaway, especially in the creative field, is that comparing oneself to other artists can be detrimental. Each person’s journey and definition of success is unique. Additionally, recalling the initial passion that drew you to your craft is vital, as this will help maintain your motivation. Most importantly, being your own biggest fan is essential, as artists often tend to be overly self-critical, and it is crucial to cultivate self-kindness.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Currently, I am seeking models with experience in beauty-related work to contribute to the growth of my portfolio and the development of my skills, with the ultimate goal of collaborating with prominent brands in the beauty industry.
