We recently connected with Myriam Lopez and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Myriam, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
In acting, my resilience comes from a mix of experiences both on and offset. Every audition ‘no’ teaches me something new, pushing me to keep going. I find strength in diving deep into characters, facing my own fears head-on, and emerging stronger each time. And it’s the amazing support from fellow actors that keeps me going, knowing we’re all in this together. Overall, my resilience in acting springs from my love for storytelling and the magic of art, keeping me determined and upbeat through it all.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
As an actress, I’m head over heels for the captivating adventure that unfolds each time I step onto the stage or into the spotlight. The rush of slipping into different characters, immersing myself in their stories—it’s pure exhilaration. But what truly makes my heart sing is the incredible support of my family, especially my amazing husband. As a mom and partner, their unwavering encouragement keeps me going, reminding me that together, we can conquer any challenge that comes our way. With their love by my side, the joy of acting becomes even more vibrant, and I’m endlessly grateful for every moment we share on this incredible journey.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back on my acting journey, three qualities really made a big difference: resilience, empathy, and continuous learning. Resilience helped me bounce back from setbacks and keep pushing forward. Empathy let me connect deeply with the characters I played, making my performances richer. And always staying open to learning kept me growing and evolving as an artist.
For those just starting out, here’s my advice: Embrace setbacks as learning opportunities and keep going. Practice empathy by understanding different perspectives and experiences. And never stop learning—take classes, workshops, and soak up inspiration from others. Stay curious, stay open-minded, and most importantly, stay true to your passion for storytelling.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, I focus on self-care, break tasks into smaller steps, and seek support from my network. These strategies are crucial in my acting career, helping me manage the pressures of auditions and challenging roles while staying grounded and resilient.
