Meet Mystic Rainn

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mystic Rainn. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mystic below.

Mystic, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?

As a Black woman, I learned early that the world would respond to me differently and expect more from me while giving less in return. The bar was always higher, and the eyes in the room were always more watchful. I was taught that I had to be ten times as good to get half as far, and that reality shaped me into the woman that I am today.

I became deeply educated because I knew that it was harder for others to question me if I had more education than my average peers. I started speaking from a place of authority so that no one could ever question whether I belonged, and I practiced being right more often than I was wrong.

There is also a key piece of advice I received many years ago as an undergraduate from a U.S. diplomat, who told me to “become indispensable.” Now, anytime I enter a new environment, I ask myself: “What is it about me that I can bring that no one else can replicate?” Then I bring that thing.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am the founder and CEO of Sovereign Quill Press, a publishing house that I created because I was tired of asking for a seat at someone else’s table. I didn’t want to play the same game as everyone else and wanted to create new things without always feeling hindered. As a psychic medium, I often receive spiritual downloads, and this one was loud and specific: “Build a publishing house.” Not just for myself, but for the kind of work that needs full creative and energetic freedom to exist. Sovereign Quill was born from that directive and is now a press rooted in purpose, power, and the refusal to dilute what’s meant to transform.

After years of navigating gatekeepers, half-aligned opportunities, and a publishing industry that often prioritizes market trends over meaningful work, I decided to build something that made more sense for the kind of impact I wanted to have. Sovereign Quill Press is a home for authors who write to shift worlds. We publish books that hold the intention to leave you different from the way you found yourself.

What makes this special isn’t just the publishing, it’s the strategy behind the mission. I founded Sovereign Quill Press to protect the creative process, preserve the integrity of the author’s voice, and give authors full agency over their message, keeping them sovereign. In practice, that means selective curation and a publishing experience that respects both the art and the soul of the work.

Outside of the press, I’m also known as The Mystic Maven, a spiritual visionary, mindset coach, and author of The Fool’s Guide to Tarot and upcoming The Glow-Up Manifesto. My work centers around helping people reclaim their personal power, trust their inner wisdom, and lead lives that are aligned, intentional, and deeply transformative. I work with those who know they’re here to make a meaningful impact in the world. My role is to help them clarify their purpose, strengthen their voice, and embody their power from the inside out.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1. Grit
Grit isn’t just perseverance; it’s the ability to hold your position steady when nothing around you is validating the decision you made. It’s about staying loyal to your inner knowing, even when your life still resembles the old one. If you’re early in the journey, get clear on who you are and what you stand for, then hold the line, no matter how long it takes for the results to catch up.

2. Discernment
The more visible you become, the more noise you’ll encounter. Bad advice, unsolicited opinions, and opportunities that glitter, but may not be gold. Discernment is the ability to sense what’s aligned, and if you need to over-explain something to yourself or overthink it, it’s probably not. You need to develop a quiet center to hear the answers that come from within, because those answers are usually the right ones.

3. Use Your Voice
Stop editing yourself to be palatable. The world doesn’t need a diluted version of you. It needs the real thing.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

1. They Lead Others
The ideal author or client is already a guide. They carry a sense of responsibility for the people they’re meant to impact and are stepping into roles as coaches, teachers, thought leaders, or visionaries.

2. They Transform Lives
They believe their work is meant to positively impact and transform the lives of others. Whether through their words, their presence, or their mission, they’re actively doing the work to help others stand, heal, or awaken.

3. They’re Ready to Invest
They know that standing out requires energy, intention, and support. They’re willing to invest in their evolution and their message because they understand the value of excellence and alignment.
