We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nader Elchaar a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Nader , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Honestly, it’s been quite a journey for me to build up my confidence and self-esteem, and I won’t sugarcoat it by claiming it happened overnight. It took years of personal growth, healing, and yes, even some therapy sessions to make progress in this department. So, if I were to share some insights, I’d say that nurturing your mental well-being, staying engaged in activities, and practicing meditation—basically all those self-care essentials—have been instrumental in boosting my self-confidence.
And you know what? I’m still on that journey today, constantly working on it. But here’s the key takeaway: as long as you don’t give up on yourself and prioritize your own well-being, you’re on the right track.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Hello there! I’m Nader Elchaar, an artist from the city of Atlanta, GA. My journey as an artist began when I could first hold a pencil, and I’ve been immersed in the world of art ever since. My main goal is to help and inspire other creatives with unique content that’s informative, inspiring, and entertaining. When I design, there is always a reason behind every color, layout, typeface, and sketch that I create. My creative journey unfolds across various online platforms, including TikTok and Instagram, where I love sharing my creations.
This past summer, I finally had the courage to take the plunge and start selling my artwork on Etsy to a broader audience. Let me tell you, it wasn’t easy. For the longest time, I had this fear that no one would like my art, so I kept it hidden away. But you know what they say, sometimes you’ve got to face your fears, and I’m so glad I did because the response has been great so far!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, here are three things that really mattered in my creative journey:
1. Persistence: Don’t give up, even when things get tough. Keep doing what you love, and you’ll get better over time.
2. Create with Meaning: Think about why you’re doing what you’re doing. Make your personal art or designs meaningful to you and your audience. Also, don’t be afraid to try new art styles or something out of your comfort zone!
3. Courage: Don’t be afraid to show the world what you’ve got. It might be scary, but it’s worth it. You never know who might love your work!
For those just starting out, my advice is simple: keep going, make your work meaningful to you, and don’t be shy about putting it out there for everyone to see.
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
One big challenge I’ve faced is getting my art out to more people. I mean, sure, I’ve posted my work on social media platforms, but let’s be real – it’s not always as easy as it looks. There’s millions of talented artists doing the same thing, all trying to shine their light. But you know what? You just gotta keep pushing forward. Learn new techniques, keep improving your skills, and figure out how to get your stuff noticed. It’s a bit like navigating through a maze, but with enough determination, you can find your path.
