Nadia, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Confidence and self-esteem are often seen as something that you’re either born with or without. That couldn’t be farther from the truth. The reality is that you can practice having high levels of both. My self-confidence is heightened each time I get a “win” in my day. When I set goals, take action, and then achieve those goals, my brain recognizes and remembers that feeling and then over time, my self-confidence improves. From a young age, I have sought after that feeling of setting a goal and achieving it. It wasn’t until I got into my 20’s that I realized the more self-confidence I had, the more my self-esteem grew as well. Something else that helps me have a high self-esteem is when I look and feel my best. When I am dressed with a unique flair to my outfit and my hair looks runway ready, there is nothing that can stop me. I believe this is true for others and should be practiced as often as possible.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
The beauty and fashion industry has always been a huge passion of mine. I have a lot of artistic and creative people in my family, and I’m so lucky that I was able to turn my talents and interests into a career.
What started as a simple career as
a hairstylist, quickly turned into me knowing I could make a greater impact in the industry by putting all of my focus into one important service: Believable Hair Extensions.
As a high-end hair extension specialist, I get to help transform my clients into their most confident selves. Natural, believable looking extensions help give a more youthful appearance to every person wearing them. Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The 3 most important things that have helped me advance this far in my career is my self-awareness, having the right mentor, and holding myself accountable to my goals.
Being self-aware is important because it helps me have the confidence to know that I am pursuing not only what I’m passionate about, but also my talents.
My mentor Kiara Bailey has been the outstanding force behind my success. She has helped guide me every step of the way when it comes to growing personally and professionally. It’s so easy for me to get stuck inside my own head, so having Kiara walk along side to help guide me in the journey has been invaluable.
Creating my dream life and career is only possible by knowing where it is that I want to go. Once I know what my next goal is, I’m able to take proper action in order to achieve it.
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
