Meet Nai Pandy

We recently connected with Nai Pandy and have shared our conversation below.

Nai, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

I get my work ethic from my great grandmother. She was always resilient even as a young girl watching her was like watching a superwoman in action. From what I remember she had a hand in almost anything. She was a mother, grandmother, a seamstress, and she also played a significant role in the church community. She took on the role of Deaconess and the church in house cook. This displayed such an impactful role for me not only did she take care of her own family but also made sure that those in the community was fed and taken care of no matter what. Being a first hand witness to her perseverance when she would be tired or over run she always stopped and prayed and continued on anyway. early mornings and late nights I would sit and watch her in the kitchen or in the main parlor back then doing everything for everyone no matter what it was. As a young girl this motivated me to get up everyday and help others around me aswell as just wanting more outta life. The staple in the house was always surrounding God and Hard work. she used to say “Faith without works is dead”, and I believed every word too. My Grandmother never fell short of teaching me and showing me what it meant to have a great work ethic and I still thank her till this day.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I take pride in servicing protective styles and hair growing techniques. I like to promote healthy moisturized and obtainable to little hair maintenance . I am a versatile stylists aswell though. some of my services include most braid styles , such as knotless, Fulani, Boho, along with braided ponytails, sew-ins, and lace work( frontals, closures, wigs). I am most proud of my recent work in lace, front wigs, and the progress of some of my clients hair growth that I have maintained over the years. I have recently expanded my services to coloring and dyeing extensions. I am a I have a few clients that can say I’ve grown their hair and they’ve seen tremendous growth and health in their hair.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Versatility, Perseverance, and Technique. Those are my three words when it comes to being a business owner, stylist, and braider. Being versatile can relate to many things in this industry. Versatility comes with the changes of styles and clientele. Certain clients may only want a specific style or want style you’ve never done before. The ability to adapt and provide that service or change for your client matters. Perseverance comes when there’s a slow period in booking or clients. Being a braider you deal with not getting as many bookings for braids in the colder seasons, most people want long hair or extensions around this time. Sometimes it can look bleak if you only offer a limited amount of services or are not willing to expand with the industry. Remembering to persevere through these times kept me on my journey and brought me here. Last but not least technique. Technique can be implemented in everything aswell. Possessing the techniques to run a business and uphold certain standards in order to profit and expand matters. You as a stylist should have the best techniques for different hair types, or new platforms/opportunities which could be anything in this business.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

My ideal client range has no limit. I would love to service as many as the lord will allow me too. Coarse hair, fine hair, low porosity, high maintenance, are everything and more. A welcoming and open client aswell, I love those who bring me innovative or bold styles and colors to add to my services or even too just experiment with. Anyone is welcome!
