We recently connected with Najah Brown and have shared our conversation below.
Najah , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I found that the foundation of my purpose resided in my earliest memories as a child. My intuitive interest in beautiful images and art had always drove my excitement for life. Before I knew what photography or the fashion industry was, I always gravitated towards museum’s, magazines, billboards, and different kinds of art. Growing up in New York City, I was quickly exposed to the many ways of artistic expression. Both through clothing and how people wore their personality down the street, and the many images and campaign photos that flooded every street corner through advertisements and posters.
As I grew into my teenage years, I continued to gravitate towards artistic expressions that led to a purpose in editorial photography fashion.
In short, remembering what brought you the most joy as a child is usually a good indicator as to what your purpose may be or what avenue it may lie in.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
After several years of focusing on editorial fashion photography, I began to cultivate my own perspective on fashion and what I felt was missing in the design space. After spending time shooting tons of brand campaigns, models, e-commerce, and story boards, I began to understand the format and sequence of presenting an idea through the medium of fashion and story telling.
In 2022 I started my own brand “PROJECT NAZARETH”, after receiving a download/revelation from The Most High on what the future of fashion would look like. The idea is that Nazareth is Jesus’s intuitive home the same way nature is the human being’s intuitive home. My brand will investigate the relationship between nature and the human being. Both literal nature (trees, grass, earth elements, etc) and human nature (emotions, anatomy, spirit, etc). This will allow for a broad spectrum of interpretations and room to play as a creative and incorporate unconventional ideas through fashion.
Currently the brand is in the stage of creating a foundation through logo’s, basics, and brand identifiers. The goal is to reach a ready to wear collection, runway shows and couture pieces.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. confidence in the vision God gave you
2. Faith in path you have been set on.
3. A relentless work ethic to continue creating and staying curious.
My advice for those in the early stages of their journey is to immerse yourself in the feeling you want your creation or idea to have and work only from that feeling. You may not have all the answers in the physical as to how you will piece everything together, but the feeling that your idea invokes in others will far exceed the tangible result of said creation/idea.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed I try to remind myself that feelings are mean’t to be felt but also released. Allow yourself to feel the emotions, they are important and can sometimes be indicators as to where your next move should be. What you should remember is to not be overly consumed by them, move forward and continue taking action. when that feeling of being overwhelmed is over, you don’t want to be left paralyzed. You are in more control than you think.
