We recently connected with Nakia Prince and have shared our conversation below.
Nakia, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
How did I develop my confidence and self-esteem?
I contribute my confidence and self-esteem to my parents and my strong foundation in faith. Growing up in a family of six, my parents taught me and my siblings values, morals and standards. Even though we were all different, they allowed us to grow and develop into who God created us to be. There was no competition or rivalry. My parents built us up with their kind words of affirmation. Each day I knew I was loved, wanted and secured. As a woman of faith, I also realized that I am a daughter of God, and that I really can succeed in whatever I do! So my identity was secured in knowing who I am and whose I am. Once I got that revelation, my journey to success began!
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Who is Nakia Prince? I am a wife, mother, registered nurse, life insurance agent, nurse mentor, and woman of faith. As a life producer with Greer Financial Services and Insurance it is my pleasure to serve families in the Memphis, TN and surrounding areas. I have been in the life insurance industry going on four years and it has been a challenge and a blessing! I have helped numerous families become financially secure by finding them the right coverage through the various carriers we are affiliated with. At Greer Financial we also can help people who need other services such as Auto, Home, Renters, Life and small business loans. Just contact us for more information on these products.
When I am not working as a life agent, I am working as a registered nurse in my community. I have served as a nurse for almost ten years and counting! I also enjoy being a mentor to student nurses or aspiring nurses to ensure a successful nursing journey.
I also enjoy volunteering as a youth team member at my church and I enjoy spending time with my wonderful husband and daughter.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The 3 most important areas of knowledge that were most impactful in my journey would be: knowing who I am, knowing my purpose and knowing that time waits for no one. The advice that I would give to people who are early in their journey would be to say yes to your purpose/ calling in life. So if you have a strong desire in your heart to do something that will help others then it is probably your calling in life to do it. Just remember there is someone out there waiting on your “yes” to the purpose God has designed for you.
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
As a life insurance agent, my goal is to get families protected with life coverage. My goal is not to target a particular demographic because everyone needs life insurance; every race, age and gender. However, my ideal client would be anyone who is a parent, because parents should leave a financial legacy not a financial burden to their children. So when a client explains that they want to protect their family from the unknown by financially securing them with life insurance, that is a client I can work with.
