Meet Nancy Labrada

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nancy Labrada. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nancy below.

Hi Nancy, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

Everything I do now started in early childhood. I was born with a strong faith in a higher power. Although I call that power God, others might call it the Divine, the Universe, Source, etc. Regardless of the label, I have always been very aware of its loving existence in the world, in my life. I was a very sensitive and intuitive child but as I grew older, I attributed my traits to an overactive imagination on a good day and a shortcoming on a bad day. I had put away all my inner wisdom and to be honest, I suffered. I never lost my faith in God despite all I’d gone through, but I had lost faith in myself. Little did I know that surrendering to my intuition would turn out to be my superpower. I understood that without facing my fears and committing to healing from emotional trauma, I could never evolve into a better version of myself. I knew deep inside that God was calling me to make a move. I decided to change my life. I changed everything that was toxic to me: food, relationships, work environment, immobility and indecision, but especially the way I treated myself. I began a healing journey within, and although I know it’s a lifelong process, I have made remarkable headway thus far. I know I was meant to share what I’ve learned. I am here to guide others to learn how to heal themselves.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I started my LLC, Nancy’s Three Graces, in 2024 because I believe in my ability to offer intuitive guidance as it relates to mind, body, spirit. My healing journey is experiential. I learn something new every day and have acquired so much experience by just trying new things. I share what I know on social media (Instagram, Facebook) as well as my website. I am certified in Level 1 & 2 Reiki (NYC Reiki Center). I am a 200-hour Yoga instructor and SEL Facilitator (Breathe for Change), a meditation teacher, a blogger, and I have over twenty years experience in teaching!
This coming October 2025, I will be co-leading a spiritual retreat with Circle of Light. I also offer (Mikao Usui) Reiki, intuitive readings, and chakra balancing in my home and at a studio in Madison, New Jersey on Saturdays. I will begin to offer online classes in Spring/Summer 2025 on developing intuition.
Making authentic connections with people is probably the most exciting part of what I do. Holding space for someone’s spiritual growth is sacred to me.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

It’s funny how the term “generational trauma” sounds like a negative thing when it isn’t entirely so. I don’t think I could have been this empathic without experiencing the pain of my family members. This sort of thing gets passed on to children sometimes unknowingly. Growing up to be a cycle breaker not only means having courage, but it means I’ve achieved a level of vulnerability that affords me personal freedom. I don’t mean you need to push yourself constantly to change, but rather to soften, back to the person you were before the fears set in. The ultimate sign of detachment is love. When you can love yourself enough to be seen and heard without the need for validation, you’ve broken the chains given to you. The first step is the will to see things differently.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

I’ve learned a lot about overwhelm and anxiety on my own. I take as many workshops as I can on different holistic modalities for healing. When I am in a really anxious moment of my life, I take out all the big tools in my toolkit. Each one is free and accessible to anyone. The first thing I do is breath work. I learned in my SEL Facilitation course that breathing in certain patterns lowers my heart rate and blood pressure so I can relax my nervous system. I remind myself to take long, deep breaths throughout the day. It’s invisible, very efficient, and again, free! Next, I notice my energy and get curious: Am I feeling an emotion? What is it? What might have provoked it? Is it lodged somewhere in my body? I acknowledge the answer without judgement. Finally, I make sure I am well nourished, hydrated, rested, and then I go for a good walk, preferably in nature. Lastly, I show myself compassion if I don’t succeed at reducing the side effects of the overwhelm. I talk to myself and say, it’s okay, I accept what I am experiencing with love. When it gets better, and I know it will, I will review what happened and I will find wisdom there.
