We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nancy Linnerooth. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nancy below.
Nancy, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Three threads came together:
(i) Coaching clients came to me with big changes they wanted to make in their lives. When we would make a plan for them to actually achieve their goal though, some would start procrastinating, or avoiding important steps, or even sabotaging themselves so they would stay stuck. When we started exploring what was getting in their way, I’d uncover subconscious blocks—fears, limiting beliefs, old “programming” which they usually didn’t consciously believe but had powerful reactions to. So I brought in Emotional Freedom Techniques (usually called EFT or “Tapping”), which I had learned about in my therapy practice, to release those blocks.
(ii) I was uncovering and releasing similar subconscious blocks of my own. (What’s that old saying? “We teach others what we most need to learn.” Yep, that was me.)
(iii) While meditating one day, I had a “Divine Download”—a strong message that the world needs more women leaders who don’t hold themselves back any more. I wrote it out into a social media post which had the biggest response I’ve ever seen. This led me to specialize in working with women business owners and other women leaders to release their subconscious blocks around Mindset (allowing themselves support and ease), Visibility (getting in front of bigger audiences), and Profitability (making, keeping, and spending more money).
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
In my business, I love working with women (especially business owners) to free them up from what’s been slowing them down—or stopping them completely—so they can create the businesses and lives they want. With Tapping, we get rid of their subconscious blocks so they no longer need to use every drop of will-power or motivation to push through what’s held them back.
It’s like magic. Clients who have tried everything, from accountability coaching to therapy to every Law of Attraction trick in the book, are shocked. They often can’t believe how easily they start taking action and getting the results they have been wanting once we’ve uncovered and tapped away their blocks. I’ve had more than one woman tell me “You’ve changed my life!” (I live for that.)
I have several 1:1 programs. I also work with small groups of women leaders in my MVP Clubs. As part of the MVP Club experience, I give quarterly 4-hour transformation trainings called Fast-Track Days on different topics like Undo Your Overdoing and Smash Your Inner Patriarchy, which I’ve made available to those outside the MVP Clubs.
A new 1:1 program I’ve just launched is called Release Your Business Trauma. Business traumas seem to have increased in the past year or two. This kind of trauma creates some of the quickest and easiest blocks to release, but they can be debilitating if you don’t know how to get rid of them.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge:
(i) Recognize when you are holding yourself back, and know that this is just old programming that can be changed with the right tools. As I saw my clients being held back by blocks that they weren’t consciously aware of, I started to realize that things I just assumed were part of who I was were actually my own subconscious blocks that could be released.
(ii) Be kind to yourself. I saw clients beat themselves up for not taking the right actions, or having the right attitudes, or whatever was happening on the surface. But when we got down to the cause of the problem, it was always some earlier part of themselves trying to keep them safe or do what was right. Being gentle with themselves as they accepted this makes it easier to then change the subconscious fears, rules and beliefs.
(iii) Use an approach that will actually change your subconscious. Tapping is one of the few methods I know of that can do that, and I have made a study of the different ways I can use it. Make it a regular practice to up-level your life by using whatever works for you, whether that’s Tapping, hypnosis, Emotion Code, or another modality that works better for you.
If you’re early in your journey, be on the lookout for those actions that you avoid, or places where you get brain fog, or things that you can’t seem to just do the ways others do them. Then don’t assume this is just the way you are. Find someone to work with to change your subconscious right away instead of wasting years thinking that if you just work harder things will work out. They rarely do!
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
It’s a bit of a truism in the Tapping world that those of us who provide tapping to others forget to tap on our own issues. That was true of me. But last year after I hit some significant burnout, I realized I have to change that.
I have been doing more internal work on myself again, which has brought me out of burnout and has allowed me to give myself more support and downtime.
During periods where I tap for myself, I notice the difference. When I forget, I start to feel stuck.
