Meet Nancy Nguyen

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nancy Nguyen a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Nancy , so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?
I believe that time is valuable, whether I am sitting at church or in a class. You need to make the best of why you are there in the first place. Every week, month, and year I set a goal for myself. My personal, family and work goals.
It doesn’t matter if it’s small or big. It can takes me 2 days or a 2 years to accomplish it. I work at my own pace and everyday I am getting closer to winning.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
After years of experiences in business, I have learned I need to take a step back and slow do to refocus my lenses like a camera to capture the perfect picture. The passion I have most is to share my knowledge and empower women and men to go after there dreams.

Last year, my salon staff has been cut more than half. I was devastated , it was hard going through the storm but now when I look back. Having a larger staff was not meant for me. I couldn’t juggling a full staff with work and my trainings.

There were so many things I wanted to do on my own such as open Arizona Permanent Make up & Aesthetician Institute. A training courses is hands on experience.

Also, I will be speaking at one of Arizona aesthetician beauty conferences. My institute is launching new classes for small business and beauty technique courses.

Eventually, start a small charity to help girls and women to go after their dreams!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Number 1 is communication, I learn to communicate in a loving and caring way. And also have boundaries at the same time.

Number 2 is be open to learning new things. My mind is always interested in expanding my skills.

Number 3 is accountability. You have to be accountable for all your actions. Take responsibility to everything you done whether it’s not what you wish it turn out be. The best quote I hear last week is:
“Failure lead you to success, you may fall 98 times but you get up 99 times”.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
I listen to plenty of motivational books on audible. I would have to say Wayne Dyer is my #1 favorite. He talks about finding yourself and is meant for you to do.

One of my all time favorite book is Making the Shift by Wayne Dyer. It’s a must read or listen to!

His story amazes me but the way he live his life really touch me in a sense of peace, happiness and love.
