Meet Nancy Rice

We recently connected with Nancy Rice and have shared our conversation below.

Nancy, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from within, shaped by my past experiences, my parents’ journey to this country, my upbringing, and the challenges I’ve faced—like my divorce, starting a business with no prior experience, and learning to support myself as a single mom. I push through difficult moments in both my personal and professional life because I believe perseverance is essential. My purpose is to raise strong, confident women—my two daughters—and to teach them that every experience holds a lesson if we choose to see it. Life is full of choices, and I choose to focus on the positive, even in the toughest times

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I wear many hats. As a single mother to two wonderful daughters, ages 6 and 8, my role is to teach them perseverance, emotional resilience, mindfulness, kindness, and generosity. Professionally, I support freelance artists in the beauty industry, providing hair and makeup services for both women and men. I love what we do because we not only enhance beauty but also empower our clients from the outside in—sometimes, a little blush and a brush can make all the difference in a woman’s confidence.

As an artist myself, I use my experiences to help guide and uplift the talented artists I work with, fostering their growth and success. Sharing knowledge and working together is at the heart of our business because when we support each other, we all thrive. The most rewarding part of what we do is seeing our clients light up when they see themselves in a new way. We also have the privilege of collaborating with other vendors and being part of some of life’s biggest moments, like weddings, making our work even more meaningful.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Throughout my journey and success, three key skills have been essential. First, learning to be personable—understanding how to connect with different people in various settings—has been invaluable. I’ve also discovered that kindness and generosity not only go a long way but often open doors to unexpected opportunities. These qualities have helped me build meaningful, lasting relationships both professionally and personally, and they are values I take great pride in. I know they will continue to guide me throughout my life

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

A diverse group of people has played a crucial role in my growth. My parents have been my biggest advocates, always cheering me on and encouraging me to persevere. I also find inspiration through podcasts like The Danny Morel Show, The School of Greatness by Lewis Howes, and The Mel Robbins Podcast. Additionally, I’ve attended seminars with Tony Robbins and even pursued business coaching with his team.

On a local level, I seek out successful men and women to learn from and grow with. As a single mom, I also look to other single mothers for wisdom and support, drawing strength from our shared experiences
