Meet Nandy Gelin

We were lucky to catch up with Nandy Gelin recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Nandy with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

My resilience is deeply rooted in my upbringing and my Haitian heritage, where perseverance is part of our identity. Growing up, I never lacked anything, but I had a rebellious spirit. Despite that, my parents especially my mom instilled in me a strong sense of independence and self-reliance. She taught me the value of hard work and that no obstacle is insurmountable. From a young age, I embraced the mindset of a go-getter, refusing to take ‘no’ for an answer or underestimate any challenge I faced. These qualities have been instrumental in overcoming both personal and professional hurdles. When life presented difficulties, I drew strength from the life lessons passed down to me, and what I’ve experienced that anything worth having requires hard work, and I possess the inner strength to keep moving forward regardless of the circumstances.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

In my career, I work in real estate and construction as both a property manager and project manager, with plans to soon add “certified general contractor” to my skill set. I manage properties and oversee construction projects, which keeps me on my toes and always learning.

On the creative side, I co-own Boss Babes of South Florida, a platform that’s all about women supporting women. It’s a space where entrepreneurs come together to lift each other up, share ideas, and grow—personally and professionally. Watching women thrive together is so inspiring and reminds me why this work matters.

I’m also the co-owner of Love of Urban Design, a community initiative that celebrates the vibrant art inspired by Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, and beyond. We’re passionate about supporting local artists, shining a light on community members who uplift the arts, and promoting arts education so the next generation can keep growing creatively. It’s about honoring heritage, building community, and inspiring through creativity.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, the three qualities that made the biggest difference for me were resilience, adaptability, and a strong sense of community.

For anyone just starting out, I’d say find (or even build) a supportive network that really fits who you are and what you believe in. Having people around you who get you can bring so much encouragement, open doors to new opportunities, and give you a real sense of belonging—things that make all the difference on this journey.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

In the past year, I’ve grown so much in learning to balance life’s demands. As a mom, my daughter is my world, and while I work full-time and co-own two businesses—Boss Babes of South Florida and Love of Urban Design—I’m learning every day how to make it all work. It’s been tough, no doubt, juggling real estate, construction, property management, and my creative projects, but I’ve realized that I don’t have to be all things at once.

What’s kept me grounded is remembering to make time for myself and the people I love. It’s easy to forget that we need breaks, time to breathe, and moments to just be. This journey has taught me that it’s okay to prioritize self-care because, without it, burnout is real. I’ve grown not just as a business owner or professional but as a person. Being a mom with a full schedule is challenging, but it’s absolutely possible—and the rewards make it all worth it.
