We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Naomie Raymond-Ngah a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Naomie , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Thinking deeply right now about this question. I found my purpose when I first started working with the youth at my local congregation. I was a youth leader at my father’s church when I was 16 years old. Though I was very young at the time I felt I could handle the role. I loved talking and sharing many stories with the young adults on multiple topics such as mental health, self-care and self-esteem.
As a women of Haitian and Cuban descent these conversations were not the norm. As I began diving deeper as a youth leader I realized empowering others helped me find my purpose and encourage me to be the Founder of Never Rated Inc.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am the Founder of Never Rated Inc. a non-profit organization created to empower women to overcome external and internal challenges through health & wellness and mentorship. We love empowering women through various journey in their lives by encouraging them to the importance self-care and knowing they are not defined by societies standards.
I love what I do especially when working with students and young ladies from different countries who are passionate about improving their lives unapologetically. Hearing the stories and how they have overcome the challenges they have faced in their lives makes me realize why I started the nonprofit and gives me a purpose to never give up on my dreams.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three areas of knowledge that were most impactful in my journey leadership skills, mindfulness and spiritual awareness. Growing up in the church taught me how to be leader. As a leader you are learning every day to be the best you can be. There will be good and bad day. To be mindful of your thoughts and feelings helped me to get through so many challenges while helped me understand the importance of finding a mentor. Someone who will listen to you and provide you with great advice for your personal growth and business. Most importantly for me is having a spiritual connection to help me get through the toughest days in my life. It’s not always easy running a business but trust God and the process has helped me overcome many challenges. My advice to anyone who is an entrepreneur or who is trying to figure out what they want to do in life is to trust the process. The dream that sparks a light in your heart follow the vision and walk in your purpose. The world is waiting for you to come out with the next invention or business for the next generation.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am all about collaboration! I would love to partner with other business women in the community to build a community to encourage young women to know we are here and ready to help them walk in their purpose. We are stronger together than apart and if we are able to support a women who is looking to start a business we are here to help them step by step. If we have the same vision and goals I am here for it!
