Meet Narelle Allen

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Narelle Allen a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Narelle, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

My passion fuels my purpose. I’ve always dreamed of being a wedding planner because I genuinely love celebrating moments, both big and small, and connecting with people. Wedding design is a core part of who I am, and it’s an incredible honour to work closely with each couple, crafting something intentional and personal for their special day.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Hello, I’m Narelle, Founder and Creative Director of Narelle Janine Events. I am a wedding planner & designer in Toronto, we also plan & design weddings internationally. I feel so privileged to work so closely with couples who appreciate intentional design and a seamless planning process. My passion for event planning and design stems from childhood, watching my mom throw elaborate and joyful themed parties nearly every week — celebrating any occasion imaginable! I was captivated by how she organized, planned, and designed these events, earning the title of ‘hostess with the mostest’ among everyone who knew her.”

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

As an entrepreneur, I believe three essential qualities are discipline, consistency, and a passion for learning. There is always room for growth, no matter the industry you’re in, so it’s important to remain a sponge, absorbing new knowledge and insights. Continuously seek ways to improve the client experience and evolve as a business owner.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

There’s nothing quite like experience, especially in the wedding industry. Early on, I’d recommend gaining hands-on experience in the field you want to enter. This was invaluable for me, as I not only learned the practical aspects of wedding planning but also how to manage stress, collaborate with vendors, and understand the industry’s overall dynamics.
