Meet Natalia Yefremova

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Natalia Yefremova. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Natalia, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I’ve loved this since childhood. The very first time I truly realized what beautiful hands could be was when I saw a home video of a family event — my mom reached out her hand to take something, and her hand looked so graceful and elegant. Her classic red manicure perfectly completed her look. She has such beautiful hands, and I was lucky enough to inherit them from her.

After that, I started noticing every little detail when she did her nails. She was always surprised that I was so little yet remembered everything — the tiny bottles of polish, the exact shades, even where she kept them. From that moment, I knew I loved this. I painted nails for everyone in my family — my mom, my sister, my aunt — and it always came naturally to me.

But it took me some time to decide to work with clients. I used to think it was such a huge responsibility, and the little voice of impostor syndrome made me afraid to take the risk and invest in myself. What changed everything was the support of my loved ones — and especially my boyfriend, who’s now my husband. They gave me the courage to believe in myself and take that first step. Looking back, I’m so grateful I did, because this passion has truly become my purpose.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’ve been a practicing nail artist since 2017, and I truly love working with clients and creating designs that make them feel confident and unique. In recent years, I’ve become especially passionate about nail competitions. There’s something incredibly rewarding about seeing my work recognized with gold medals — it’s a powerful reminder that dedication and creativity always pay off.

This experience inspired me to start sharing my knowledge with others. I completed advanced training in both judging and teaching, and I’ve come to see evaluating other artists’ work as a meaningful mission. It carries great responsibility, but it’s also deeply inspiring — there are so many talented professionals, each with their own unique perspective.

Currently, I’m developing my own signature course based on my original technique and preparing specialized masterclasses in nail design. My goal is not only to share knowledge but also to help other artists grow, refine their skills, discover their own creative voice, and embrace innovation — all while continuing to raise the standards of our industry.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Perseverance. In the beginning, I struggled with self-doubt and even a bit of impostor syndrome. I was hesitant to work with clients because I knew how much responsibility it carried. But perseverance helped me push through that fear and take the leap. My advice for those starting out is: don’t wait until you feel “ready.” Confidence comes with practice, and every step you take will make you stronger.

Continuous learning. The beauty industry is constantly evolving, and I’ve always been curious about new technologies, safer materials, and innovative techniques. Competitions and advanced training pushed me to keep learning and improving. For beginners, I recommend investing in education — attend courses, masterclasses, and competitions. Every new skill you learn adds value to your craft.

Attention to detail and creativity. What makes nail artistry special is the combination of precision and imagination. Details like shape, structure, and proper sterilization are just as important as the creativity that makes your work unique. My advice is to train your eye for detail and give yourself permission to experiment. That’s how you develop your own style and voice as an artist.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
I often find myself struggling with doubts — questioning whether I chose the right profession or whether I want to continue on this path. By nature, I’m someone who feels stress very deeply; for me, even taking risks can be overwhelming. In those moments, I sometimes feel physically unwell, lose motivation, and wonder how to keep going — especially when I realize how far I’ve already come and how frightening it would be to change direction. And when a single sharp word from an ungrateful client is added on top, it can feel like everything I’ve built could collapse in an instant.

What helps me in these moments is remembering my dreams. I believe dreaming is incredibly powerful — it gives us direction, purpose, and the strength to keep moving forward. For me, those dreams are about creating a better future for myself and my family, being of service to others, and building a business that not only brings recognition and success but also allows me more time with my loved ones.

When I imagine these possibilities — the life I want to create, the progress I still hope to make, and the happiness that comes from feeling valued and accomplished — I find the strength to keep going. Dreams remind us that no matter how difficult the present feels, there is always a way forward. So my advice is simple: hold onto your dreams. They are the compass that helps us navigate challenges and the fuel that carries us closer to our purpose.
