We were lucky to catch up with Natalie Nichole recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Natalie , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
As a child, I inadvertently discovered my purpose. Music had always enchanted me, observing how artists infused their emotions into lyrics and beats. The union of poetry and melody captivated me. When I eventually blended the two, it felt like a starting point. My goal extended beyond personal expression or an escape from challenging surroundings; it became about connecting through emotions, aiding others facing similar feelings, and reassuring them they weren’t alone in their hardships. It was a purpose engraved deeply within me from the start.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My name is Natalie Nichole, and I was born in Lubbock, Texas, raised in San Antonio. I feel, my journey speaks volumes about resilience and ambition. Since I was young, I’ve showcased my diverse talents, participating in dance groups, talent shows, TV appearances, commercials, and youth organizations fighting substance abuse and bullying.
After high school, I made a bold move to California, diving headfirst into the music scene. Collaborating with industry giants like Smitty Soul, Ron Aniello, Pusha Rod, CoCo Jones and Rita Wilson, I worked hard to refine my craft. Despite facing almost a year of homelessness in Los Angeles, I never lost sight of my goals.
My big break came when I won Nick Cannon’s IG Challenge, propelling me into projects like “Calling All Models (The Prequel)” and “The Fuck Him Trilogy,” both released in early 2018. I also released the hit single “Simple” with NCredible Entertainment in 2019.
In that same year, I established my indie label, “Indience Music Group,” drawing strength from my experiences with Nick Cannon. Under my label, singles like “Slide” and “Go Off” soared to the top of the iTunes charts.
My creativity extends beyond music. I’ve authored a best-selling book titled: It Was God: The Natalie Nichole Story available everywhere books are sold and launched my own custom “N27” sneakers, along with limited edition Evolve Tee’s available on my website NatalieNichole.com My legacy revolves around storytelling and sharing my personal journey.
As I transitioned into the touring phase, I embarked on an incredible journey Spring Break of 2023, touring with DJ Calvin, the official DJ and A&R for independent artist Russ’ label Diemon. My tour spanned over 10 cities and states, and right now we are currently gearing up for 2024 tour including Grammy Weekend showcase in L.A. I recently unveiled my highly anticipated album, “Evolve,” featuring collaborations with celebrities like Lil’ Flip, AJ Hernz, Mark Battles, Fat Pimp, and more. I’ve been told that I’m a formidable force in the entertainment world, proving that there are no limits to what can be achieved. I couldn’t agree more to that statement.
I’m excited for what’s on the horizon. With each new endeavor, I keep uncovering more and more blessings.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three most impactful elements on my journey were:
Qualities:
Resilience: The ability to bounce back from setbacks and keep moving forward despite challenges.
Adaptability: Being open to change and able to adjust to different situations and environments.
Perseverance: The determination to stay committed to my goals even when faced with obstacles.
Skills:
Communication: The capacity to express myself effectively and connect with others.
Creativity: The skill to think outside the box and approach problems innovatively.
Time Management: Organizing and utilizing time efficiently to maximize productivity.
Knowledge:
Self-awareness: Understanding my strengths, weaknesses, values, and aspirations.
Industry Insights: Understanding the nuances and trends within my field of interest.
Continuous Learning: Embracing a mindset of ongoing growth and seeking new knowledge and skills.
My advice to others would be simple: Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. Develop a mindset that sees setbacks as lessons and always be open to learning. Stay true to yourself and your goals while remaining flexible in your approach. And above all, believe in your abilities and keep moving forward, no matter what obstacles come your way.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
During overwhelming moments, my approach involves jotting down a sequential list of tasks I aim to accomplish. I tackle them individually, step by step. This method not only helps calm my mind, reminding me of my human limitations, but it also proves effective in reaching a majority of my goals. Whether it’s daily tasks or larger aspirations, this method keeps me focused and steadily moving forward.
