We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Natalie Ramchandani a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Natalie, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
My generosity comes from my incredible mother, who has always gone above and beyond to help others. She continues to be her amazing, generous self through her service in her church, where everyone knows they can count on her. I’ve inherited her spirit of kindness and creativity. If you tell me you can’t afford to celebrate a birthday, I’m already brainstorming ways to make it magical. I believe everyone deserves to feel special! My mother dreamed of being a nurse when she came to this country from El Salvador, and I shared that dream. But life led me to the sweet world of baking, where I found my true passion in creating cakes, cupcakes, and cookies.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a cottage baker in the Cypress area and the proud owner of Batch! Please Bakery. A few times a year, I take great pride in giving away cakes or cookies through Instagram giveaways or charitable donations. I am also a Sugar Angel with Icing Smiles, and this year, I’m thrilled to announce that I will be donating a sweet treat to the BEAR Foundation at their annual Stetsons & Stilettos Fall Fundraiser for children in CPS and at-risk youth here in Houston.
The focus of Batch! Please Bakery is to create delicious, beautifully crafted cakes and treats that bring joy and smiles to every occasion. What excites me most about my work is the joy and smiles my treats bring to people. My bakery was founded with giving in mind—giving smiles at first bite from one of my treats, and giving to those who can’t afford a custom cake because we all know how expensive they can be. I’m committed to making sure everyone can celebrate their special moments with a beautiful and delicious cake, regardless of their financial situation.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three qualities that were most impactful in my journey have been creativity, resilience, and community focus.
Creativity: Creativity has been a driving force in my baking and decorating journey. It allows me to think outside the box and create unique, memorable treats. I encourage those starting out to embrace their individuality and let their personal style shine through their work. Try new techniques, play with different flavors, and find inspiration in everything around you.
Resilience: Running a successful bakery comes with its fair share of challenges and setbacks. Resilience has helped me stay committed and keep pushing forward, even when things got tough. My advice is to stay positive, learn from your mistakes, and keep your passion alive. Surround yourself with supportive people who encourage and uplift you.
Community Focus: Giving back to the community has been a core value of my business. It brings joy to others and creates a loyal customer base and a sense of purpose. I believe in connecting with and supporting my community through charitable donations, volunteering, and creating a welcoming environment. Make community involvement a priority, and you’ll find it enriching both personally and professionally.
For those early in their journey, stay curious, be persistent, and always keep the bigger picture in mind. Nurture your creativity, build your resilience, and never underestimate the power of giving back. These qualities will not only help you grow as a professional but also as a person.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
One of the challenges I’m currently facing is deciding which direction to take my business next. There are so many exciting opportunities I want to explore, but I’m unsure which ones are the best fit for Batch! Please Bakery. Right now, things are going well, and there’s the adage “if it ain’t broke, why fix it?” However, it never hurts to consider expansion.
For instance, I’m contemplating whether to expand more into wedding cakes or to continue offering cake classes. Both have their appeal, but I need to determine if there’s enough demand and interest. I understand that everything involves a bit of trial and error, and that’s where I am right now—evaluating my options and trying to make the best decisions for the future of my business.
